What to expect from home styles and prices

Buyers looking in Hamilton Place can find a broad mix of housing options throughout the neighborhood. "You can find older homes up to brand-new construction and everything in between," says Andrea Lamb, a Realtor at Keller Williams with nearly a decade of experience. Homes on the west side of the neighborhood are typically the oldest, often 1970s ranch-style houses on spacious, tree-filled lots. As you head east, you'll find more planned subdivisions featuring New Traditional and contemporary single-family homes, as well as townhouses. With the mix of housing comes a mix of prices in the neighborhood:

  • Single-family homes typically range from the upper $200,000s to the upper $700,000s.
  • Townhouse prices fall between the mid-$200,000s and the lower $400,000s.
  • The median sales price is in the lower $400,000s, lower than nearby Westview-Mountain Shadows, which is in the mid-$400,000s.

Hamilton Place puts shopping, dining and services close by

The Hamilton Place mall and its surrounding stores and services are one of the neighborhood's major perks. "There's a lot of medical practices there. That's a big draw for people," Lamb says. "It's quick to restaurants, shopping and medical care if you don't mind traffic." The mall is anchored by stores like Dillard's, JCPenney and Belk, with several smaller shops filling out the rest of the space. Other big-box stores along Gunbarrel Road include Target, REI and Best Buy. You can update your wardrobe with visits to Nordstrom Rack, Jos. A. Bank or T.J. Maxx. Grocery options include Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Publix. A wide mix of restaurants also fills the neighborhood, ranging from spots for an upscale dinner to chains where you can stop in for a quick bite. "There is this little sandwich shop called Newk's," Lamb says. "I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best sandwich I've ever had in my entire life."

Where residents go for sports and leisure

A few parks in the area make it easy to get outside. Things to do in the area include:

  • Strolling on the walking paths and enjoying the off-leash dog park at Jack Benson Heritage Park
  • Playing youth sports like baseball and softball at the East Brainerd Youth Athletic Association
  • Playing on the five courts at the Batter's Place Pickleball Complex

Highway access makes daily travel convenient

Traffic along Gunbarrel Road and throughout the shopping centers can be heavy, especially at popular shopping times like the holiday season. For trips out of the neighborhood, Interstate 75 runs along the community's west side, with multiple on-ramps in the area. Chattanooga's City Center is about 13 miles away, and Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, is about a 12-mile drive. The highway also gets congested at peak travel times, so it's important to plan your trip accordingly.
