Under 13 miles from the excitement of downtown Chattanooga and the small-town vibe of Ooltewah, Liles Addition is a small neighborhood tucked away inside East Brainerd. It's a blink-and-you-might-miss-it neighborhood that offers peaceful, quiet homes in the center of suburbia.
Several housing types with varied styles are available
Liles Addition became a neighborhood in the mid-20th century, and many of the original homes still stand, with most houses owner-occupied. Quiet streets and the backdrop of mountain ranges give Liles Addition a laidback atmosphere, and neighbors regularly spend time outside, tending to their gardens or walking their dogs.
According to Asher Black, a real estate agent with Keller Williams, homes in Liles Addition vary in style, from wide-framed ranch-styles to sensible split-level homes. “There’s not just one type of housing here—there are options in a few different styles,” says Black. Homes here range from $250,000 to $500,000.
Streets are flanked by drainage swales, and there are no sidewalks. Garages are about on equal footing as carports or driveways without covered parking.
Hamilton County Schools provides K-12 education for Liles Addition students
Students in Liles Addition are zoned in the Hamilton County School District. Students may attend East Brainerd Elementary School, graded B by Niche, East Hamilton Middle School, graded A minus, and East Hamilton High, graded B-plus. There are a variety of clubs and athletics available at the high school, and school leadership regularly invites college ambassadors to present post-graduate educational opportunities to students. These information sessions are one of several programs East Hamilton uses to prepare students for life post-graduation, along with scholarships, Future Ready Institutes and Advanced Placement classes.
East Brainerd Road is home to shopping and dining options
The nearby thoroughfare of East Brainerd Road is the closest commercial area, offering a Walmart, Food City, mechanics, banks and medical specialists. Peppered in with the chains are locally owned shops and restaurants. Locals grab coffee at Lola Beans and head to Lupi’s Pizza for savory pies made from locally sourced ingredients.
Golf and playgrounds are available nearby
Heritage Park offers playgrounds, sports fields, picnic areas, an off-leash dog park and paved walking trails. Golfers, tennis players and swimmers can apply to join the Council Fire Club. Membership provides access to the private club’s other facilities, including tennis courts, pools and clubhouse dining.
It's easy to get downtown for work or play
Downtown Chattanooga is roughly 13 miles west of Liles Addition, and driving between the two takes 20 to 25 minutes on average.
