Murray Hills combines lake access and city life

With Chickamauga Lake to the north and state Route 58 to the south, Murray Hills blends convenience and recreation in Chattanooga. The rolling hills in the neighborhood offer a calm, residential feel just a short drive away from the busier parts of town. Lakefront properties often come with private docks, but there are also plenty of public parks and boat ramps that make it easy for anyone to spend time on the water. A mix of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood keeps daily errands close by, and nearby highways lead to other popular destinations around the city.

20th-century homes bring character to Murray Hills

Established homes sit along the quiet streets of Murray Hills. “They have character. They’re not brand-new homes,” says Linda Carter, co-owner of The Source Real Estate Group, who has over a decade of experience. “When I think of Murray Hills, I’m thinking typically brick, older homes.” The neighborhood has a median build year of 1969, and Colonial Revivals and ranch-style homes are the most common, but there are a few New Traditional houses and contemporary Craftsman builds as well. When it comes to costs in the community, it depends on where you’re looking. Most homes range from the lower $200,000s to the upper $500,000s. Houses near the lake can cost between the mid-$600,000s and the lower $1.2 millions.
