NFL greats among residents in Cherry Hills Village

Cherry Hills Village, or The Village, as it's known to Denver locals, is set amid rolling hills, horse paddocks and an extensive system of hiking trails. The neighborhood maintains a population of over 6,500 residents, including a few NFL greats like John Elway and Mike Shanahan. While there are limited restaurants and shopping within the city limits, proximity to downtown Denver and the Denver Tech Center means the neighborhood's pastoral appeal doesn't come at the price of accessibility.

Former weekend cottages turned diverse housing stock

Cherry Hills Village was once a collection of weekend cottages for city dwellers alongside a few large farm estates. Today, mansions rub shoulders with ranch homes built in the 1960s and 70s. There are also Craftsmans, brick colonials, Mediterranean villas, and avant-garde contemporary modern designs. The smallest homes sit on at least a half-acre, while grander estates typically sit on 1-to-10-acre lots. Prices start at around $800,000 and go to $20 million.

Top schools serve Village students

For some residents, the most significant allure of the Cherry Hills Village neighborhood is its exceptional schools. Cherry Hills Village Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, and West Middle School received A grades from Niche. Cherry Creek High School received an A-plus. The school began in a one-room schoolhouse in 1874 and is today ranked the best or second-best public high school in Colorado, depending on who you ask. Local private schools boast notable alums, as former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright attended Kent Denver and Condoleezza Rice attended St. Mary's Academy.

Country clubs and canal trails

The Village is also home to the Cherry Hills Country Club, which hosts major events such as the US Open and PGA Championships. John Meade Park, specifically the Alan Hutto Memorial Commons, is home to year-round community events and gatherings. The park hosts movie nights in the summer, an annual winter celebration, and an exotic car show. It also has a creative playscape for kids. Denver's 71-mile High Line Canal Trail system snakes through the Village, making stops at multiple parks throughout the area. The wilder Three Pond and Woodie Hollow Parks offer rustic respite from civilization.

Upscale dining and downtown spots

According to Eater Magazine, Pino's Place is a local favorite for its upscale Italian food and modern interiors. The magazine also recommends Cherry Hills Sushi Co. for its minimalist menu. Nearby grocery stores include mom-and-pop shops and major grocery chains, while the Cherry Creek Shopping Center is about 7 miles away. Downtown Denver sits about 11 miles north of Cherry Hills Village, offering the best restaurants and culture of the metropolis. The neighborhood is about 2 miles from the nearest hospital, the Swedish Medical Center.

Easy access onto I-25

Located in Arapahoe County, Cherry Hills Village is bordered by US Highway 285 on the north, Interstate 25 to the east, East Orchard Road to the south and South Clarkson Street to the west. Its central location allows for a short drive to downtown Denver and easy access to I-25, making it accessible from any direction. Located about 30 miles from the Denver International Airport, it also offers excellent convenience for those traveling outside the area.
