Curie High provides art and technical education
Within the community, educational opportunities abound as there are several public, faith-based and private schools such as Acero Charter School, which offers dual language instruction. Students can begin their academic careers at Richard Edwards Elementary, which earns a C Niche grade and provides pre-k through eighth-grade curricula. Students can then move on to Marie Curie Metropolitan High School, named after the famed scientist. Curie High, which also earns an overall Niche grade of C, is a magnet institution with fine and performing arts programs and career and technical education. The neighborhood is also home to the Academy for Global Citizenship, a magnet campus focusing on global mindedness. Students can shake off the academic year by heading to De Colores Ice Cream & Coffee Shop, located just a few blocks from Curie High. De Colores is vibrantly decorated with nods to the holiday Día de los Muertos. This art-centric creamery hosts events and is another popular place when the school year ends. “In the summer, we open the patio to host artisan markets,” says owner Dolores Zaragoza Lopez. “Women come and sell their work or pieces from Mexico. Here [students] can come to do homework or come and hang out before practice. It’s a safe space where they feel welcomed.”

The quality of housing is okay. There aren't any vacant properties that I am aware of. The cost of housing and utilities is not too high. The best area to reside in is near the northside of Chicago.
