A quiet suburb with busy parks and a generational pull
Widely and affectionately known as the “P Streets,” Belmont Terrace is the smallest subdivision of the Dunning neighborhood in northwest Chicago. With busy parks, peaceful residential streets and a community rooted in family, Belmont Terrace is an excellent choice for those who want to be in the city but still want that small-town feel. “Many families who currently own are going on their third generation owning in the same area,” says Rose Dante, a Broker Associate with Baird & Warner and a Chicago native. “There’s a generational pull to the neighborhood.”

A short stroll to the community’s northeast corner takes residents to Hiawatha Park. During the summer, locals head here to enjoy little league baseball games and let the little ones cool off in the splash pad. Teens have several different club activities to explore, like a weightlifting club, while the Senior Citizen Club meets once a week to socialize. A more pristine outdoor experience is found at Shiller Woods-South, where many go to hike and bike along its wooded trails.

The homes of Belmont Terrace
“When clients first see the neighborhood, they notice the mature landscape and that all the homes are unique,” explains Dante. This is not a cookie-cutter neighborhood.” Construction on the community’s ranch and Cape Cod-style homes began in the late 40s and early 50s, alongside a surge of new traditional-style homes built throughout the 21st century. These homes sit atop maintained yards parallel to neat sidewalks and quiet streets, which are kept well-lit thanks to streetlights spread throughout. Depending on size and condition, those looking to purchase a home in the community can expect a price range from $300,000 to $700,000.

Planes overhead
Considering Chicago O’Hare International Airport borders sit close to the western side of the community, residents can be expected to hear background noise in the form of planes departing and arriving overhead. Though many don’t notice the noise over time, it is worth considering for those who are sensitive to this kind of noise.
