Little Vietnam
Not just Vietnamese cuisine in Little Vietnam
Walking along Argyle Street is like taking a tour of Asian countries and their food. Pho 777 specializes in the Vietnamese soup dish served with rice noodles. The meat is separate from the broth, which is not typical of Pho restaurants. La Patisserie P is a bakery with Asian favorites like barbecue pork buns and classic French croissants. First Sip Café décor includes teacups hanging from the ceiling and various teas and coffees, including Vietnamese roasts known to be strong. With the amount of restaurants, and the variety of flavors, it makes sense that some stand out. “One of the best Mexican restaurants is in this neighborhood,” says Santiago Valdez, a broker with Compass with over 20 years of real estate experience. “Kie-Gol-Lanee is not a very big place, but if you’re coming to Chicago, you have to try it.” They are known for Oaxacan food and their tamales. There are various neighborhood grocery stores along Argyle Street, while Mariano's is at the corner of Foster and Sheridan.Great walkability as compared to Andersonville

Single-family homes start at $900,000 and go up to $1.2 million, with turn-of-the-century Victorians with bay windows and up to 3,000 square feet. “People are drawn to this area because it’s less expensive than nearby areas like Andersonville, and it's more walkable,” Valdez says. In the residential area, there are narrow streets, sidewalks on either side of the street and homes built close to one another.Little Vietnam's overall CAP crime index score is 5, slightly above the national average.
