Classic midwestern suburb with the benefits of Cincinnati proper

Central Delhi is a classic midwestern suburb with rolling hills along the banks of the Ohio River. Initially settled in the 1700s, Delhi was a township that earned the moniker "the floral paradise of Ohio," because of its collection of greenhouses. About 7 miles east, Downtown Cincinnati has a vast arts scene and professional sports stadiums. Outside this metropolitan area, Central Delhi comes with all the benefits of living in Cincinnati proper, with famed chili restaurants, vibrant parks and a family friendly atmosphere. "Central Delhi is a well-established neighborhood with deep family roots. It's very neighborly," says Amy Getgey, Cincinnati local and Realtor at Comey & Shepherd Realty. "You can get a lot more for your money here. It's a gem. Unless you are from here, you might not know."

Varying architecture in homes over 2,000 square feet

Red-brick houses and well-connected sidewalks line the sloping streets of Central Delhi. This area features a wide range of traditional, modern and prairie-style homes. Most properties were constructed between the 1950s and 1990s, although some date back to the early 20th century. Single-family home prices range from $50,000 to $700,000. However, most houses cost between $50,000 and $325,000. Four-bedroom properties over 2,000 square feet go for $325,000 to $700,000. Condos are also available and cost between $50,000 and $350,000.

Classic neighborhood diners along Delhi Road, with nearby retail

Delhi Road is a commercial district overflowing with national chain stores and local eateries. One popular place to grab a bite is Wild Mike's Delhi, which serves saucy chicken wings and hamburgers in a casual pub-style interior. Cincinnati is known for its chili, which has a sweet flavor profile and is a topping for spaghetti, crackers and coney dogs. Luckily, Central Delhi is about a mile from Price Hill Chili Family Restaurant, a well-established diner serving sandwiches and chili dishes. Kroger is the local supermarket along Delhi Road, while Walmart Supercenter is about 2 miles north.

B-rated schools in the Oak Hills Local School District

C.O. Harrison Elementary School earns a B-plus grade from Niche. It prioritizes student well-being and development by encouraging positive behavior and healthy habits. Delhi Middle School has a B, and its parent-teacher association provides many opportunities for community involvement. Oak Hills High School receives a B and offers various advanced placement courses and student organizations. "You're in the Oak Hills Local School District, which is a neighborhood school system. It's a benefit to people," Getgey says.

Woodland trails and family friendly events at Delhi Park

Embshoff Woods is a woodland preserve with a nine-hole disc golf course and wooden exercise stations along a 1-mile fitness trail. In Delhi Park, pet owners walk the quarter-mile path around Clearview Lake, a lively duck pond lined with trees. It also has recreational facilities like pickleball courts, baseball fields and a skatepark. This community space is a venue for the Delhi Farmers' Market, which offers handmade crafts and baked goods on Saturdays from June through August. Concerts in the Park is a live music series with local bands, beer and food on Wednesday evenings until September.

Bus routes, nearby metros and an international airport

There are options for those who prefer taking public transportation. The Cincinnati Metro's SORTA 77 bus and the CincyLink commuter bus have stops along vital routes in Central Delhi. The thoroughfare Delhi Avenue reaches downtown in about 7 miles east. "It can be a little bit harder to access the highway from Delhi. You have more of a commute, but you have great access to state Route 50," Getgey says. Dayton is around 60 miles north on Interstate 75, and Lexington is about 90 miles south. Also nearby is Louisville, roughly 110 miles southwest on Interstate 71. Just south of the Ohio River, the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport provides passenger flights about 20 miles away.
