Madison Place has historic homes and quick commutes to Cincinnati
During the holiday season, streetlamps on Plainville Road are decorated with wreaths and string lights. Plainville Road is the main commercial thoroughfare in Madison Place, a Columbia Township neighborhood that works to preserve its early 20th-century charm. With the exception of a few small restaurants, a handful of auto dealerships and a highly-rated Montessori school, the area is entirely residential. Most homes were constructed throughout the 1920s and ‘30s, and, given its proximity to Cincinnati, Madison Place is especially popular with commuters. The larger city is about 10 miles away. Mandi Beecroft, branch manager at Mariemont’s public library, says it’s a community where people stay for a while. “There’s a lot of young families here and definitely people who live here for years…The youth librarians get to watch the kids grow up,” she says.

Cincinnati City School District, Montessori programs and library book clubs
Students attend public schools within the Cincinnati City School District, where options include John P. Parker School for prekindergarten through sixth grade and Shroder High School for grades seven through 12. The schools earn a C-plus and C-minus from Niche, respectively. Shroder requires students to participate in community service projects throughout high school, and some take part in the Pharmacy Technician program, after which they’re certified to pursue Pharmacy Technician positions at Kroger. The Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori school earns an A-minus and is within walking distance for many students. Beecroft also speaks to the educational programs at the Mariemont Branch Library, where book clubs are especially popular. “It’s a very strong reading community,” she says. "People enjoy the opportunity to discuss books, and the social aspect is appealing.”
