Quiet residential area in the middle of Citrus County
Located more than 80 miles northwest of Orlando, Citrus Springs offers access to the scenic, untouched landscape of Citrus County, with housing prices similar to those in surrounding areas. Though the community is essentially all residential, locals can commute to work 30 miles away in Ocala, visit local shops and restaurants 5 miles away in Dunnellon, and attend one of the many festivals taking place in towns like Crystal River, 12 miles away. Citrus County is united by a natural “Old Florida” feel, with seven freshwater rivers and many hiking and biking trails. “The county is all very connected,” says Annie Adams, a resident of Citrus County. “Citrus Springs is right in the middle of all that but still has a lot of nature and open space.” Citrus County’s major employers include the DSK Group, Citrus Memorial Health Foundation and the Tenet Health System. The area is home to 11,000 residents.
