“Clarcona is very close to the 429 toll road, which has been put in in the past few years and has really opened up this area,” says Stuart Coutu, Realtor with Mainframe Real Estate. “The area has only improved since they got the toll road. More and more businesses are coming in and the whole area is growing.” Clarcona is serviced by Central Florida’s LYNX public bus lines, providing an accessible public transportation option that connects throughout the greater Orlando area. Locals who commute by car can hop on the nearby Apopka Expressway to connect to Interstate 4 and land in downtown Orlando within a half-hour.

Emerson Park is a homeowner’s association brimming with midsized homes in contemporary styles. These houses feature stucco exteriors, arched entryways and decorative windows. Residents enjoy access to a community pool, cabana lounge and children’s play area. The Westlake subdivision has similar contemporary homes but offers a lower HOA fee. Homebuyers can downsize into a bungalow at Apopka Woods or a ranch style in Willow Hill. Summer Brook offers a wide selection of older homes featuring colorful exteriors. For something rural, there are spacious ranch homes on the east side of Clarcona near Lake Boggs. Orange County public schools have plenty to offer
Students in Clarcona attend school in the Orange County Public Schools district. At Prairie Lake Elementary School, kids can choose from 20 clubs and organizations, including arts and technology. Piedmont Lakes Middle School provides a morning STEAM program for students. Wekiva High offers over 50 clubs, including aquaponics, hip hop and Girls Who CODE. All three of these schools receive overall grades of B-minus from Niche.

Horseback rides, hiking and golf around Clarcona
Equestrians are drawn to the area for the Clarcona Horse Park. This public facility features show rings with bleacher seating, judging towers and horse stalls. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding on the trail, followed by a night under the stars at the campground. This park also connects to the West Orange Trail, which offers more than 20 miles of pathways from Oakland to Apopka. When in the mood for a bit of nature, locals can head to nearby Magnolia Park. Sitting along the shores of Lake Apopka, this green space has boat ramps and fishing docks. Visitors can dive into nature, take in scenic views and search for wildlife along a hiking trail. The park also has a butterfly garden and basketball and volleyball courts. Wekiwa Springs State Park, the longest-running tourist attraction in Orange County, is a short drive away. Although known as a place to swim with manatees, many also enjoy snorkeling and paddling. Golf lovers can practice their swing on the 18-hole course at Forest Lake Golf Club, followed by dinner with friends and family in the clubhouse.

Residents can kick back with a beer bucket and a burrito bowl at Fogata Street Tacos, a casual spot that entertains guests with live music. For something something greasy, A&T Buffalos serves a mean Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Residents can pick up daily essentials at Dollar General on Clarcona Ococee Road. For groceries and other goods, Publix on West Road is just under a 5-mile drive west from Clarcona, and Walmart Neighborhood Market is a 3-mile drive east.
