Convenient suburban living in the heart of Claremont
Home to the city’s much beloved recreation center and the popular Monadnock Park, East Side is a suburban neighborhood located in the heart of Claremont. The community borders downtown on the west side and the Sugar River on the east. Washington Street, one of the city’s main thoroughfares, runs along the river and is home to many big-box retailers and well-established restaurants. Claremont Middle School and Stevens High School are also right by the area, making East Side an ideal setting for families. With parks and recreational spaces, public schools, restaurants and shops nearby, the area’s convenient location offers residents a comprehensive suburban living experience. Additionally, Interstate 91 is several miles west of the area, making it an easy commute for those who work for major Upper Valley employers such as Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Hypertherm. “I was delightfully surprised when I moved down here from the Upper Valley,” said James Shibles, a Claremont local and Realtor at Covered Bridge RE with 9 years of experience. “When the machine industry left here and went to foreign countries in the 1980s and 1990s, it left a big dent in the city. Today, Claremont is reimagining itself and is upgrading and making itself more upscale.”
