The welcoming atmosphere and residential growth of Greenwood
Settled along the bend of the Cumberland River and just south of downtown Clarksville, Greenwood is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. Its development began in the early 20th century, and many original homes still stand. As Clarksville becomes increasingly populated, Greenwood has experienced new residential growth, with builders favoring its location next to downtown and the riverside. Even with its quick expansion, Greenwood still maintains the laidback, welcoming atmosphere that's common around the city. "We're very much in our own bubble," says Bonnie Monson, a Clarksville local and Realtor with Haus Realty & Management. "I've been living here for 20-something years and never been in a neighborhood where people don't wave at each other or stop to talk. We're a transient community because of Fort Campbell, but there's still that friendly, 'been here forever' vibe."

Greenwood's mix of midcentury and modern construction
Like much of Clarksville, Greenwood is experiencing a huge wave of new housing, but it still maintains a mixture of vintage and modern. "New construction is popping up everywhere; it's crazy," Monson says. "Greenwood has some of the lower pricing in the city; you're usually not going past $300,000 for a solid starter home. Anything above that, you're usually looking at 3 or 4 bedrooms in a totally new place." Midcentury ranch-style homes and minimal traditional bungalows can be found on quarter-acre lots, shaded by trees off winding streets. The price range for older homes is usually between $130,000 and $250,000, depending on condition. Contemporary single-family houses and townhomes, many sporting the board-and-batten exteriors that are common to the Nashville metro area, can fall anywhere between $250,000 and $400,000.
New build homes can be secluded and set back from the main streets in Greenwood.

Connecting to Nashville and getting around Clarksville
The community is bordered by state routes 13 and 12, which connect to different areas of Clarksville; Route 12, for instance, leads 50 miles to Nashville, as does Interstate 24. While Clarksville has a regional airport, many people drive 56 miles to Nashville International Airport for more airline options. Several bus stops are located on main roads throughout Greenwood, with routes run by the Clarksville Transit System.
Liberty Park is a hub for diverse outdoor activities
At nearly 150 acres, nearby Liberty Park is one of the city's most popular recreation areas. Set along the Cumberland River, the park features a four-lane boat ramp, the Clarksville Marina, and a fully stocked fishing pond. Paved boardwalks run throughout the park for walking and biking, and there are a community-funded playground and several multi-use sports fields. The connecting King's Run Bark Park is fully fenced, so dogs are allowed off-leash.

A vibrant event calendar for Greenwood residents
When it comes to community events, Clarksville keeps busy. "There's always something going on that doesn't cost you a lot of money. There are art walks on the first Tuesday of every month, live music at a bunch of places downtown, things like that," Monson says. "In the winter, they set up a gorgeous light display all down the riverwalk."
