Alcove provides an escape from Clearwater’s tourism
For many homeowners, Alcove’s central location is its biggest perk. This primarily 55-plus mobile home community sits on busy Old Coachman Road and north of Long Center Park. “You really are close to everything," says Brian Walsh, a Realtor with SkyCoast Realty Group. "You’re smack dab between two sprawling shopping centers, and you’re 15 minutes from one of the country's most popular beaches.” While Alcove is close to some of Tampa's top attractions and Clearwater's sandy waterfront, the community feels tucked away from tourists. “This is one of those rare places where you forget you’re in the middle of one of the most populated areas in the county,” Walsh says. “You’re right by the creek and there are canopied streets around every turn. It has that Old Tampa feeling people love.” Residents enjoy a clubhouse and various interest groups that tie the community together, such as shuffleboard and crafting clubs.
Alcove's Wide streets lead to one and two-bedroom mobile homes planted on 500 to 600-square-foot lots, priced between $70,000 and $100,000.

Wide streets lead to one and two-bedroom mobile homes planted on 500 to 600-square-foot lots, priced between $70,000 and $100,000. Yards rarely showcase palm and oak trees; residents opt for small gardens and lawn ornaments. On the northern half of Alcove is the Clearwater Manor subdivision. One-story homes offer carports, garages and larger lots than those in the Alcove Park mobile home community. Three-to-four-bedroom properties are often priced around between $400,000 and $600,000.
Ranch style homes with garages and driveways are common in Alcove.
Alcove residents love living in the quiet 55+ community, while also having access to the beach nearby.

Getting in and around Alcove
Alcove is largely car dependent. Downtown Clearwater, which rests along Cleveland leading up to Coachman Park, is the nearest walkable district. Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority operates several bus stops lining Belcher Road. Alcove’s location is a big draw for homebuyers. “That’s probably one of my favorite areas because it’s so central,” Walsh says. “You’re by all the coastal cities, like Tarpon Springs and Dunedin, and two major highways [U.S. Highway 19 and Gulf Bay Boulevard].” Clearwater is also a pit stop along the Jolley Trolley’s beach route, which travels as far as Tarpon Springs, 14 miles north of Alcove. The nearest commercial airport is Clearwater-St. Pete International Airport. For immediate medical care, most go to Morton Plant Hospital on Pinellas Street.
Neighboring Old Coachman Park and Clearwater Beach
Sidewalks on Old Coachman Road link the neighborhood’s trails to a long swath of green space, Coachman Ridge Park; The Long Center, a fitness facility with a gym and a junior Olympic-size pool; and Sunshine Limitless Playground. According to Walsh, Clearwater Beach is continuously voted America’s favorite beach and an 8-mile drive away via State Road 60. Locals and tourists bathe in the sun, walk along the boardwalk and fish on boats.

Three miles south of Countryside Mall
Most of the retail and restaurant options line U.S. Hwy 19 and Gulf Bay Blvd, along with grocers like Sprouts, ALDI and Target. Walsh lives closer to St. Pete but prefers to drive north to the shopping centers neighboring Alcove. “I’m over in that Home Depot all the time. You come in on a weekend, and I’m there, too.” On top of big box chains and the expansive Countryside Mall, 3 miles north, Walsh says that small businesses, especially markets and restaurants, are supported by locals and tourism. “I love a farmer’s market, and Sun Valley is right over there,” Walsh adds. “They have a cool little deli in the back. You can get all your produce there locally.” Driving south on U.S. Hwy 19, locals reach Lenny’s Restaurant. This Clearwater institution is famous for its classic retro diner feel.
