Modest condos and single-family homes
Most residents here are renters in apartment and condo buildings like Mainstreet Apartments, Avalon at Clearwater and the 55-plus Sunshine Towers with shared amenities like heated pools and fitness centers. Condos are from the late 20th century through the early 2000s with less than 1,000 square feet and features like assigned parking, balconies and in-unit laundry. Monthly condo association dues range from about $400 to $600, which go toward community upkeep. There are also a handful of mid-century Craftsman-style and block homes set along narrow, sidewalk-lined streets peppered with a mix of palm, oak and pine trees. Homes are generally under 2,000 square feet with modest lawns, attached garages or uncovered driveways and occasional features like covered patios and private pools. Condo prices range from $100,000 to $250,000, while single-family home prices range from $250,000 to $550,000—both ranges depending on the property's size and features. The median price here is $225,000, compared to $475,000 in both Tampa and St. Petersburg.
Shopping and dining at Clearwater Plaza
For daily essentials, Clearwater Plaza is just outside of the neighborhood with over two dozen shops and restaurants, including a Publix for groceries. “We have a lot of restaurants around the area—European, American, Hispanic,” Miehl says. Residents might start their morning with hot tea from Machi Boba or brunch at Our Place, a laidback diner with comfort classics like chicken ‘n’ waffles, chocolate chip pancakes and all-day bottomless mimosas. For a quick meal, Tacos El Carnal is a food truck with street tacos, quesadillas and birria, while China 1 is across the street for takeout staples like shrimp fried rice, mapo tofu and sweet and sour chicken. Nearby, Abe's Place Tap & Grill offers a social setting to enjoy the game with beer on tap.Sunsets at Pier 60
Four miles away at Clearwater Beach, Sunsets at Pier 60 is a daily tradition that begins two hours before sunset and continues two hours after. As the sky shifts from pastel blue to deep shades of orange, red and pink, local artisans sell handmade goods, musicians perform and street entertainers wow crowds with fire-eating, stilt-walking and magic tricks.Pinellas County Schools receive high marks from Niche

Nearby, the 47-mile, shared-use Pinellas Trail stretches from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs. “People like to bike ride or run through the trail,” Miehl says. “You’ll see landscapes, cross through some neighborhoods—it’s a nice trail.” Birders on the trail can try and spot local avians like European starlings, purple martins and eastern bluebirds.
