A convenient, yet quiet central Clearwater neighborhood

Plumb Oaks is a neighborhood of established, well-maintained single-family homes surrounded by commercial corridors in central Clearwater. “It’s more urban than suburban,” says Kirsten Kelley, a Clearwater local and Coldwell Banker Realtor with over a decade of real estate experience. “You can get a house under $500,000, not in a flood zone, but a short drive to the beach, so that’s the draw,” she says.

Midcentury single-family homes

These stucco-clad ranch-style homes built in the 1950s and ‘60s sell for between about $360,000 and $660,000. While rare, custom new builds typically list for over $2 million. “They’re your typical Clearwater block homes,” Kelley says. Concrete block construction is common here because of the material’s resistance to rot and decay, which are prevalent concerns in Florida due to the heat and humidity. “It’s an older, more established, slower-paced part of the city. A lot of these people have been here for 40 years,” Kelley says. Homes don’t come on the market very often, but when they do, they sell faster than the 46-day national average.

Outdoor recreation at nearby parks and Clearwater Beach

Allen’s Creek Park is home to a shady playground, a multi-use field and a collection of picnic areas with grills. Crest Lake Park, a couple of miles away, offers more outdoor recreation, including fishing, hiking and exercise stations. There’s also a volleyball court, a seasonal splash pad and an arboretum. The McMullen Tennis Complex features hard and clay tennis/pickleball courts, outdoor exercise equipment and paved trails. Clearwater Beach is less than 6 miles away from Plumb Oaks.

State Road 60 features shopping and dining options

“State Road 60 is a massive road with lots of businesses. That’s where people run errands,” Kelley says. Also known as Gulf to Bay Boulevard, or simply “60,” the main east-west road runs nearly the width of Clearwater. Walmart Neighborhood Market, Aldi and Publix are within 2 miles of most homes. National fast-food chains like Culver’s and Tropical Smoothie Café are also close. More local dining options include Rumba Island Bar & Grill, a casual pirate-themed seafood spot, and Papa’s New York Diner, a 1950s-themed eatery open 24/7.

State Road 60 and U.S. Route 19 connect around Pinellas County

Plumb Oaks’s proximity to State Road 60 and U.S. Route 19 means getting around by car is easy, but Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus stops within a mile of the neighborhood are also available. Morton Plant Hospital is less than 4 miles west, while St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is just over 7 miles southeast. Tampa is about 15 miles away.
