Postal Colony combines city perks with rural charm
Originally designed, in part, as a retirement community for railway mail clerks, Clermont’s Postal Colony neighborhood now offers those who move here a quiet, rural lifestyle close to lakes, with homes on acres of land.
Homes on large lots or in tucked-away subdivisions
Most of Postal Colony has a rural feel, with ranch-style and New Traditional homes sitting on sprawling lots far from roadways and shrouded by tall trees. On the neighborhood’s southwest side are two small subdivisions: Bella Terra and Southern Pines. Both have a more suburban feel, with newly built New Traditional homes sitting a little closer together. HOA fees are $66 a month in Bella Terra and $42 a month in Southern Pines. Homes don’t go on the market often here, but when they do, they range from around $550,000 to around $700,000.
Lake County Schools serves the neighborhood
Lost Lake Elementary, East Ridge Middle and East Ridge High are assigned to the neighborhood. All three have a B-plus rating on Niche and are within Lake County Schools. East Ridge High offers clubs and organizations, including Robotics Club, Gay/Straight Alliance and Gaming Club. Lake County Schools offers school choice through Educational Choice Transfer.

Along with its five softball fields, picnic areas and restrooms, it also features a playground, tennis courts and soccer fields. Lake Felter Park is also nearby and popular for its pickleball and tennis courts, basketball courts and playground. Kings Ridge Golf Club, open to the public, is about 5 miles away.

Clermont Brewing Company is a favorite for its burgers, pizza and craft beers. The closest hospital, AdventHealth Clermont, and other medical offices are about 3 miles away.
Residents get around on Highway 50
There is one LakeXpress bus stop outside the neighborhood near Highway 27, but residents largely get around by car. Highway 50 connects to Orlando, about 25 miles away. Orlando International Airport is about 35 miles away.
