Cultural hub located two miles from downtown
Located between University Circle and downtown Cleveland, Midtown Cleveland’s culture isn't just a part of life—it is life. This neighborhood is a vibrant mosaic of heritage and tradition, where colorful murals tell stories of its past and present, and where the aroma of diverse cuisines fills the air. Midtown Cleveland cherishes its rich heritage, from the historic Agora Theater and Ballroom to historical landmarks like the Dunham Tavern Museum, and events like One World Day celebrating the diverse culture of the community. This is all while embracing ongoing transformation through significant investments in preservation and development, including adding trails, greenspaces, and public art along the Penn Square corridor of the neighborhood. "Midtown connects the vibrant University Circle area—which hosts Case Western Reserve University, various museums, the Botanical Gardens, the Cleveland Orchestra, as well as The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals main campuses—to downtown and all of the restaurants and professional sports venues Cleveland is famous for," says Realtor Sophie Boehlen of Premier Heights Realty.

Property values increasing with additional developments
Midtown Cleveland boasts a variety of housing options reflecting its blend of history and modern growth. New townhomes with large front lawns are popping up, while many older houses have been converted into multifamily residences. Programs like Henrietta Homes provide rent-to-own opportunities, making homeownership accessible. "The proximity to Downtown and University Circle, and what both of these have to offer, as well as the modern architecture and amenities, are enticing young professional renters and buyers to move to the area," says Sophie Boehlen. Colonial-style homes range from $54,000 to $193,000, while multifamily homes range from $48,000 to $345,000. The median home price is $150,500. The housing market is competitive, with properties ranging from historic homes to modern apartments, attracting young professionals, especially those in the medical field due to the proximity of Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. “The biggest shifts that we are seeing are in the number of new construction projects, including single-family homes, that are underway, and the number of real estate investors who are showing interest in this area. As a result, prices of all properties, including those that require a complete rehab, have appreciated rapidly,” Boehlen says. Future development at Penn Square, a corridor in the neighborhood, will add new housing, commercial spaces, and a retail district, and the City of Cleveland is improving the East 55th Street corridor to ensure safe connections and easy transit access. The neighborhood has a CAP Index crime score of nine representing a higher-than-average rate of activity in the area.
