A part of southeast Cleveland, South Broadway blends historic charm with modern conveniences. The community contains established brick buildings and century-old homes. The housing stock includes single-family houses and small multi-family units.

You will see bungalows with bay windows built in the early 1900s, as well as cozy Craftsman-styles displaying front columns and wide porches. The area is brimming with simple Colonials, some featuring sloping Dutch rooftops. The neighborhood also contains townhomes from the 21st century that add a modern touch to the streetscape. There are newer houses located in the southern corner, specifically in the Millcreek Subdivision development. Many homes enter the market as low as $70,000 and reach upwards of $150,000. However, houses in the newer Millcreek subdivision can cost as much as $250,000.

To the north is Mound School, which accepts students from kindergarten until the end of their eighth-grade year. The community is also home to Warner Girls Leadership Academy, one of the district's single-gender public schools. Older students may also attend the nearby East Technical High, promising career-focused technical education courses in Civil Engineering, Urban Agribusiness and Culinary Arts. Parents may also choose the faith-based options Holy Name Elementary and Cleveland Central Catholic High.

The neighborhood contains a number of nearby green spaces. The small Warsaw Park is within its borders, which boasts tennis courts, play areas and an outdoor pool. The community is also home to the highest waterfall in the county, located inside Mill Creek Valley. Morgana Trail and Metroparks trails lead locals to other regional parks and green spaces like the Garfield Reservation to the east or the Washington Reservation to the west. Those who prefer indoor recreational pursuits should visit the pool, racquetball court and weight room at Stella Walsh Center. The center hosts engaging activities for young residents during the summer, such as athletic programs and dance classes.

The retail district along Fleet Avenue invites locals to event venues, small businesses and restaurants. The unassuming Red Chimney is a community dining staple for no-frills breakfast items and lunch eats such as chicken noodle soup and stuffed cabbage. Residents can grab fresh meats from the neighborhood butcher, Saucisson, while ordering a soup and sandwich. Locals can find grocery options on Harvard Avenue, including Dave's Market and Save A Lot.

The area was once called Slavic Village, reflecting a part of the community's unique cultural identity in the 20th century. Today, the neighborhood continues to celebrate the area's rich history through annual festivals and events such as the Pierogi Dash. Although traditions run deep in South Broadway, the community continues to move toward the future. Darian Thomas, a Realtor with Keller Williams Greater Metropolitan, says, "The Broadway area is seeing constructions and noticeable growth as a result of the newly developed causeway, called the Opportunity Corridor." The causeway links the neighborhood to a nearby highway providing quick access to other popular destinations in Cleveland.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students.
