South Collinwood provides several parks for residents to enjoy. R.J. Taylor Park, located on the neighborhood’s north side, offers a playground and a small green space for after-school fun. Thames Park, established in 1968 on Thames Avenue just east of East 152nd Street, features a basketball court and a playground, though it is in need of improvement. These parks provide vital recreational areas for families and children. The Collinwood Athletic Complex is a hub for sports, hosting little league games, high school football, soccer, and track meets.

Students can attend Euclid Park Elementary and Mary McLeod Bethune for pre-kindergarten through 10th grade, each receiving a C-minus rating from Niche. Collinwood High School has a D-plus rating. “The school is well known for its sports teams,” Joiner says.The popular Future Farmers of America after-school club offers students the opportunity to learn about farming and equipment use.

New Life Mission Baptist Church has served the community since 1930
The neighborhood is home to several houses of worship that serve as community anchors. Greater Bethel AME Church on Thames Avenue, led by Pastor Cecelia Williams, is part of Cleveland’s legacy of AME churches and was built in 1955. New Life Mission Baptist Church on Diana Avenue, built in 1930 and led by Pastor Bobbie Laster, provides spiritual guidance and community support.
