Eccentric Cleveland enclave
Tremont is an artsy Cleveland enclave on the city’s near-west side. Many have already gotten a glimpse into this quirky community, as it’s the site of the home in the 80s holiday flick, A Christmas Story, which is now a museum. Positioned a couple of miles outside the city and along the interstate, Tremont locals have easy access to downtown Cleveland. The neighborhood feels residential, though cafes, art galleries and vintage shops fill many of the refurbished properties.
Tremont’s allure is in its eccentricity – its historic architecture, boutique shops and award-winning restaurants cultivate a dynamic mixture of old and new, drawing crowds of Clevelanders with character at the top of their homebuying list. “It’s a vibrant community that’s captured the hearts of many buyers,” says Paul Ruksenas, Realtor at Platinum Real Estate and long-time citywide seller. "It's an attractive location to people looking for a distinctive and welcoming place to call home."
Eateries with edge
Everything has a little edge in Tremont, from the historic remodels to the kitschy shops and bookstores, establishing a laid-back, come-as-you-are vibe. It’s a hub for some of the city’s trendiest eateries, ranging from refined home-cooked breakfast at Martha on the Fly to the divey dishes and drinks at the beloved Prosperity Social Club. Locals browse art galleries by day and listen to live music by night. CODA is one of the neighborhood’s go-to venues, where crowds jam through the weekend at open mic acts and busy shows featuring edgy local bands. Artists and culinarians come to Tremont in troves, seeking live-work spaces at accessible price points, building on a strong entrepreneurial framework. When they’re not browsing the local shops and galleries, Tremont locals head to West Side Market for weekly grocery shops and continue downtown for other errands.
