Mauldin
Neighborhood in Clovis, New Mexico
Curry County 88101
Moderate sized lots, garage space and a stable housing market
Mauldin home prices go for anywhere between $60,000 and $244,000, and they typically remain on the market for 52 days. Ringed by narrow sidewalks and private driveways, many sit on moderately sized lots and include bungalows and Craftsman and ranch-style homes with elements like shingled roofing and brick exteriors. Some houses also have attached garages suitable for one or two cars. According to Fly, the stable housing market is a draw for homebuyers and she cites the nearby Cannon Air Force Base as an important factor in this, "Clovis experienced a lot of appreciation because people move in and out every three years. That's significantly more turnover than other non-military communities. It’s good for investors and selling, because they know that every three years, there's turnover. People invest in Clovis because it’s more solid than the larger cities that fluctuate.”Fishing, skating, swimming and more
Mauldin is nearby several city parks. Greene Acres Park is 24 acres and provides a skate park, a walking trail and a fishing lake. Hillcrest Park includes a dog park and the Hillcrest Zoo, the second largest in the state and home to over 150 animals. Fourteenth Street Park offers a wide grassy space for outdoor play. For indoor fun, there’s swimming at Clovis Aquatic Center and indoor roller skating at Roller World.Clovis Municipal Schools
James Bickley Elementary School includes prekindergarten to fifth grade and holds a C-plus from Niche. Marshall Middle School has a B and Clovis High School is rated B-minus. Clovis High also offers an Early College High School program where students can earn credits from the nearby Clovis Community College.Downtown Clovis events
As a part of the larger Clovis community, Mauldin residents can attend the events and attractions downtown. Every May 1, the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce organizes the Founders Day Festival, which celebrates the city’s railroad origins and local history. It includes a parade and a coloring contest for the kids. The annual Clovis Music Festival is a three-day event held at Curry County Events Center in April and features big-name acts and local talent.Mobility around Mauldin
Driving is the main way to get around. Mauldin is set up in a grid pattern with roads mainly running north and south. Commerce Way cuts directly through the middle for traveling east and west. Clovis Regional Airport is less than 10 miles east via E 21st Street, and the nearest hospital is Plains Regional Medical Center on the west side of town.International foods and local shopping
Whether it’s a slice at Red Stone Pizza, a bowl of bibimbap at Bokka Korean Comfort Food or a platter of tacos at Antojitos Veracruz, Mauldin has plenty of spots to grab a bite. For an after-dinner sugar fix, Nanna’s Sweets serves everything from banana splits to beautifully decorated cakes and cupcakes. Groceries can be bought at either Lowe’s Market or Albertson’s Market, both of which have convenient locations just outside of Mauldin. Urban Fashion Outlet, G W Boutique and Hat Barn have unique clothing and apparel, while Sports Connection offers athletic gear. Plus, Sylenser’s Gaming Lounge provides entertainment with its collection of video games.Fire stations and possible traffic
Clovis Fire Department Station is at the northern end of the neighborhood, and there's another one right outside the west end, so passing sirens may be heard. Cannon Air Force Base is a significant employer nearby, which may affect traffic during commuting hours. Because of its location by a small channel near Greene Acres Lake, Mauldin is also vulnerable to floods. It is considered part of a "Hundred Year Zone," meaning a flood could potentially occur once in a century. While the drainage infrastructure in the overall area has improved over a 20-year period, many lenders require some homeowners to purchase flood insurance.
