Colebrookdale Township has spacious farmland and city convenience
On the outskirts of Boyertown's picturesque town center, Colebrookdale Township offers rural farmland within reach of local watering holes, restaurants and a nearby reservoir. Compared to other remote areas in Berks County, Colebrookdale Township offers quick access to bigger cities, with shopping, dining and employment all within a short drive. "We are a quiet little community, and we have a lot to offer," says Todd Gamler, a lifelong local and assistant manager at Colebrookdale Township. "We're close to anything you need or want in the city. We have multiple options for shopping and dining. You can get to Reading, King of Prussia, Philadelphia and Allentown."
Rolling hills and mountain views surround the Dutch-influenced houses
Country roads rise and fall with the hills, surrounded by mountain views and spacious properties that reach up to 10 acres of land. This area features a variety of home styles, including New Traditional, Craftsman, and ranch-style homes with Dutch architectural elements. These single-family homes range from $150,000 to $750,000. Townhouses, such as those in the Indian Springs community, typically cost between $170,000 and $270,000. "Our housing is very diverse. We have everything from townhouses to large properties. It's an awesome little community," Gamler says. The area can occasionally experience flash flooding during periods of heavy rainfall.
Boyertown’s eateries range from Irish pubs to scratch kitchens
This community surrounds Boyertown, which features Victorian architecture in its downtown area, located approximately 2 miles east, near many taverns and restaurants. Doc's Irish Pub serves drinks on a patio with an outdoor bar. Just north of Boyertown, the Americana Diner has metal decorative elements in a spacious breakfast cafe serving large brunch plates and pieces of pie. One of the most popular eateries is Grind, a minimalist bar serving seafood and pasta dishes made in its scratch kitchen. "My favorite restaurant in Boyertown is Grind. It's clean, and the food is very good," Gamler says. "I've had everything from their weekly specials, and I just ate there last night." Also nearby, Walmart Supercenter is on state Route 100, and Redner's is a warehouse-style supermarket close to downtown.
Prekindergarten education and high rankings
The Boyertown Area School District serves more than 6,500 students in the area, who are assigned to schools based on their residence, with limited options for intra-district choice. The district offers a “Pre-K Counts” program, featuring high-quality curriculum goals for pre-kindergartners. One of multiple elementary schools in the township is Colebrookdale Elementary School, which earns a C-plus grade from Niche. Boyertown Middle School West has a B-minus. Boyertown Area Senior High School receives a B grade.
Nearby parks have boating access and tree-lined walking trails
One of the region’s biggest recreational highlights is the Green Lane Reservoir, about 12 miles east, which has 25 miles of trails and a fishing lake with boat access. Boyertown Community Park is one of the most popular recreation areas, featuring tree-lined walking trails, shady tennis courts and picnic pavilions close to downtown. It also has a public, outdoor swimming pool. Earl Township Park has baseball diamonds and a disc golf course. Other green spaces, such as Ironstone Park and Amity Community Park, have walking trails and playgrounds.
SR-73 and SR-100 connect the community to nearby cities and airports
State Routes 73 and 100 are the primary expressways for navigating the area by car. Reading is about 20 miles west on SR-73, and Allentown is roughly 25 miles north on SR-100. Public transportation is generally unavailable, although the Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority has on-demand service for older adults or individuals with disabilities. There are two airports nearby. The Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown provides flights to many U.S. cities. Philadelphia is approximately 50 miles southeast, and the Philadelphia International Airport offers flights to Europe, Mexico and Canada.
