College Station is an established Pulaski County community with a small population
College Station is a sparsely populated Pulaski County community about 5 miles from downtown Little Rock. College Station has a long history as a majority African-American community. It has always been small, but its population has declined in recent years. However, the community is home to an elementary school that began as a one-room schoolhouse in the late 1940s and remains anchored by the long-standing Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church.
Housing options range from old frame houses to 1990s builds
The community’s housing options range from small, traditional frame houses to manufactured homes and ranch-style homes on larger lots. Several homes offer paved driveways, and a few relatively newer homes feature attached garages. Information on price ranges was not available.
College Station Elementary has a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1
College Station Elementary is located in the heart of the community on Frazier Pike. The PK-5 school is rated C-minus by Niche. It has a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1. Older students typically attend Mills Middle School and Wilbur D. Mills High School, rated C and C-plus respectively. The Arkansas Public School Choice Act allows eligible students to attend schools outside of their geographic zones. However, the district does not provide transportation.
A pair of community restaurants offers highly rated comfort food
Ye Paul’s Soul Bodega & Grill and C&S Restaurant are popular destinations along Frazier Pike, the community’s commercial corridor. Both eateries are known for their made-from-scratch food, including large burgers, and friendly atmosphere. A post office and a non-profit health clinic are located nearby. A Dollar General is a little more than a mile away.
A community park features a playground and athletic amenities
Bessie Wilson Gregg Park is another attraction on Tucker Pike. The community green space, adjacent to C&S Restaurant, features well-maintained amenities that include a playground, a multi-purpose athletic field, a basketball court and a pavilion. Boaters and anglers can find plenty to do, including bankside fishing, on the nearby Arkansas River.
Community is conveniently located to I-440, downtown Little Rock
College Station is car-dependent, but residents enjoy proximity to Interstate 440. They can hop on the interstate just outside the community for convenient travel to regional points of interest. Downtown Little Rock is about a 10-minute drive via I-440. Several large-scale hospitals are located downtown, which is the heart of Central Arkansas’ medical industry. Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport is about a mile from the community just across the I-440.
