A higher-end neighborhood with newer homes and mountain views, Kettle Creek piques buyers' interest for its proximity to trendier areas while still being its own slice of northwest Colorado Springs. "You have what feels like a bit of a secluded area there, but you can get to so many different places so quickly," Alan Arata, with Keller Williams Client's Choice Realty, says. "Nice walls off the highway make it feel more private." The Air Force Academy and Davis Airfield are a few miles away; however, it doesn't affect everyday life. "The planes may circle nearby sometimes, but it's mostly a non-issue," Arata says. Kettle Creek receives a 1 out of 10 on the Crime Cap Index, lower than the U.S. national average of 4.

Contemporary homes with natural tones
Sidewalks with enough space for multiple people to pass by, trim bushes and a sprinkle of trees smaller than the homes line the streets of Kettle Creek. Roads leave enough space for street parking without impeding vehicles driving in either direction. Houses in the neighborhood range from around $600,000 for a ranch-style home with an attached garage to around $850,000 for a custom-built home with mountain contemporary architecture. "I say the housing style there is very mountain modern," Arata says. "You have some stones and earth tones; it's very natural." Homes sell, on average, after 50 days on the market, compared to the national average of 43. Some areas include HOA fees that range between $40 and $90 a month.

Cruise down Powers Boulevard
Kettle Creek residents may ride their bikes or walk around the area for leisure or to visit neighbors, but other errands require a vehicle with limited public transportation options. Major roadway North Powers Boulevard leads to the Colorado Springs Regional Airport, 19 miles away. Interstate 25 leads to downtown Colorado Springs, about 13 miles south, and southern Denver, 62 miles north. The Interquest Parkway thoroughfare and Northgate communities offer several restaurants and shops just a few miles away. "You don't have to go hardly anywhere to get to so many different places," Arata says.
High marks for Kettle Creek area schools
Kettle Creek students may begin at Mountain View Elementary, which Niche gives an A-minus and ranks as the 14th best elementary school in the Colorado Springs area. Their next stop could be Challenger Middle School, which earns an A and is ranked the second-best middle school in the Colorado Springs area. Teenagers can attend Pine Creek High School, an A institution that won the league championship in baseball from 2010 to 2019. Parents looking to carpool or stop at multiple schools have an easy route, with all three schools less than two miles apart. "I'd say the three great schools are the biggest attraction to the area," Arata says.

Spending time outside at Mushroom Park
Mushroom Park's shared green space gives residents an open area where runners hit the pavement, dogs burn off some excess energy, and those looking to relax can enjoy an outdoor lunch on the bright red benches. Black Forest Regional Park sits encapsulated by towering trees, where children race across the tan wood chips on the playground, jumping between the slides and other structures. At the same time, parents get out of the sun or enjoy a picnic at the tables under the green pavilion. A few miles away on Interquest Parkway, Main Event fills up on a Friday night with bowlers knocking down pins while gamers try to beat the top scores at the arcade. Golfers practice their swing at Pine Creek Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course with a postcard-worthy view of Pikes Peak and the Front Range Mountains.
Views and brews at Colorado Mountain Brewery
Powers Boulevard runs through Kettle Creek, leading to big-name retail stores like Target and grocery stores like King Soopers and Safeway, all a few miles away. Kettle Creek residents head to nearby neighborhoods Interquest and Northgate to find a wide selection of restaurants and fast-food joints like Chipotle and Torchy's Tacos. Colorado Mountain Brewery stands out in the area, serving several craft brews and a bison meatloaf Wellington that received high praise from Chef Gordan Ramsey. Arata says the brewery has more than just good food and drinks. "It's a great setting with outdoor seating where you can look over the Airforce Academy; it's just awesome." Closer to home, Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant & Taqueria offers authentic Mexican cuisine in a southwestern atmosphere, with several western, cowboy-themed portraits and a stuffed bull above the bar. In fact, Vaqueros means cowboy in English.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
