Scenic Colts Neck has large lots and farmland
Colts Neck, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, is a primarily suburban township with farmland and golf courses. The township is 38 miles from Newark and is known for its spacious lots and greenery. “Colts Neck is a great place, you have a lot of privacy and you get very large properties,” says Alex Farlow, a real estate agent with Compass New Jersey. Farlow has been working in the industry for five years. “Colts Neck is known for its horse farms and big properties.” The suburban areas are interrupted by equestrian farms and open farmland, giving the township an almost rural atmosphere. “Colts Neck is really beautiful, but it's also really close to Middletown, Red Bank. There are a lot of other towns surrounding it,” says Farlow. Both towns are 10 miles away. Middletown has strip malls and popular chain restaurants along state Route 35, while Red Bank has marinas along the Navesink River for more recreation.
Single-family homes on spacious lots
Most homes here are organized into subdivisions with winding roadways that end in cul-de-sacs and open farmland. Most are spaced far apart on large, manicured lots bordered by trees and fences. “There are a couple of places with homeowner’s associations, but they're not very common in Colts Neck. People who live there kind of want to do their own thing on their big piece of property,” says Farlow.
Homes are primarily single-family and in the Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival and ranch-styles. “Colts Neck has some really beautiful, massive million-dollar homes listed, and then there’s the smaller, three-bedroom, two-bath ranches,” says Farlow. “There’s a big diversity in price ranges and options out there.” Large estates range from $1 million to $4 million. Smaller homes range from $600,000 to $945,000.
