A mix of old and new near Fort Wayne
Columbia City offers its residents a mix of old fashioned, Midwest vibes and a contemporary, walkable community. Walk down two-lane, main thoroughfare West Van Buren Street and see an example of this. On one side is the Whitley County Courthouse, an ornate French Renaissance-style building from 1888. On the other, a collection of modern, locally owned shops and restaurants, the side of one accented with a colorful mural. This mix of old and new is what draws many residents to this small city located 21 miles west of Fort Wayne. "It’s a little slower paced than Fort Wayne, a little old fashioned, but still has the great restaurants and nice parks like Fort Wayne," says Kammrin Bernard, a Realtor with American Dream Team Real Estate Brokers who sells throughout Fort Wayne. “It’s also really welcoming. Everyone is very friendly.”
