East Central City’s central location
Located in downtown Columbia is East Central City, an area with a diverse housing market. Properties range from ranch-style dwellings in need of renovation to Cape Cods. Residents can enjoy a central location that makes all of Columbia's main attractions easily accessible. Locals love the area's wide array of shopping and dining opportunities, and the proximity to their jobs in the greater Columbia area. They can dine at local establishments like the Publick House, which serves classic pub food like wings and fries, and the Two Notch Restaurant Neighborhood Grill for seafood and happy hour specials. Many schools and hospitals are also just a short drive away. For some time outdoors, residents can head to Martin Luther King Junior Park or another of the many parks scattered near the area.
Diverse housing market
Mid-century bungalows and split-levels line East Central City's narrow streets that often spread into cul-de-sacs. Homes here range from under $100,000 for a ranch-style property in need of renovation to over $400,000 for a 4-bedroom Cape Cod. Vicki Ducanois, a Broker with Cristal VIP Realty who has sold multiple homes in the area, says, "Many houses in the area are being used as investment properties." A 1965 3-bedroom split-level can go for $150,000, while a new 3-bedroom ranch-style property can go for $300,000. Residents often park on their driveways or streets, as many properties do not have garages. Front yards are small, and houses sit close together. Decorative trees grow scattered along narrow sidewalks. Ducanois says, "Most homes don't have HOAs," which appeals to some residents.
Colorful bungalow homes with small front yards can be found throughout East Central City.
