Lakeside living northeast of Columbia
"When you choose Lake Carolina, you choose a lifestyle," says Donna Stevens, longtime local and real estate agent with Lake Carolina Properties. This master-planned community built around its namesake 200-acre lake "Is the kind of place where residents see their neighbors out walking or dropping their children off at school via golf cart," she says. Within the community, residents of Lake Carolina have access to well-ranked public schools, a YMCA and a town center complete with restaurants, spas and office spaces. A diverse community, residents in Lake Carolina range from young families to retirees and everyone in between. With frequent community-sponsored events and a lake right outside the back door, Stevens says there really is “nothing else like it in Columbia."

Lake Carolina offers 200 acres of water to fish from, hike around or boat in. Sunset Lake Park, on Morning Sun Court, has a boat ramp for easy lake access and residents can rent out event space there or admire views of the sunset from over the water. The lake’s surrounding neighborhoods are home to pocket parks, dog parks, and trails popular for walking and biking. “You can walk and bike everywhere. There are extensive paved sidewalks all throughout the community. It's a safe and enjoyable way to get out and enjoy the surroundings,” says Becki Ashby, a former resident and Realtor with Re/Max Purpose Driven. “It’s really well landscaped, there are gently rolling hills and mature trees everywhere. It’s beautiful there.” Apart from the lake, the Jeep Rogers Family YMCA on Lake Carolina Drive, offers tennis and basketball courts, a pool, and more than 60 group exercise classes.
