Seven Oaks
Suburban Neighborhood in Columbia, South Carolina
Richland County 29210, 29212

970s ranch-style homes and contemporary new-builds
Homebuyers can find ranch-style homes built in the 1970s, typically between $250,000 and $350,000, as well as contemporary and traditional red-brick new-builds on larger lots, ranging from $315,000 to $460,000. Most subdivisions do not have sidewalks, but homes feature spacious yards with tall trees. “The lots in Seven Oaks are larger than what a lot of the builders are doing now, which makes it attractive,” Stutler says. “People aren’t right on top of each other.”Lake Murray, the jewel of South Carolina
Seven Oaks is one of many communities within a few miles of Lake Murray, known as the jewel of South Carolina. A prime spot for boating, fishing and tubing, the lake also has miles of nearby nature trails to explore. Harbison State Forest — one of the largest city green spaces in the eastern United States — is about 5 miles from Seven Oaks, featuring over 2,000 acres of forested land and 18 miles of hiking and biking trails. Saluda Shoals Park spans nearly 480 acres, with an 18-hole disc golf course, the Saluda Shoals Wetland Preserve and Leo's Landing Inclusive Playground. Near the heart of the community, Seven Oaks Park is a recreation complex that includes a 30,000-square-foot facility, nine athletic fields, paved walking trails, playgrounds and picnic shelters.Highly rated Lexington-Richland School District 5
"The school district, Lexington-Richland 5 School District, is one of the better school districts in the area," Stutler says. Leaphart Elementary, which receives a B-plus from Niche, is a proud Green Step School, encouraging staff and students to become more environmentally responsible. Sixth graders head to B-rated Crossroads Intermediate School. Irmo Middle School, also rated B-plus, is home to the Hub for Interdisciplinary Values and Enrichment, or HIVE, a program that helps students find their passions. B-rated Irmo High School is an international school for the arts, offering an array of programs ranging from theater to music. In fact, the school has won 11 marching band state championships in the last 35 years.Irmo's Okra Strut
About 4 miles from Seven Oaks, the town of Irmo puts on plenty of events, notably the Okra Strut festival every September. The long-running festival got its start as a fundraiser for the Lake Murray-Irmo Woman’s Club to help build a new library, but it has since turned into a popular tradition that brings in thousands of Columbians each year. Now 50 years strong, the two-day festival is filled with live entertainment, local vendors and, of course, heaps of fried okra. Irmo Rocks, a music and arts festival, is free and open to the public. The event includes live performances from regional bands and artists. Once December rolls around, Irmo Town Park hosts an annual Christmas tree lighting with live entertainment, hot chocolate and cookies.Easy access to downtown Columbia
With Interstate 26 on the northern side of Seven Oaks, residents have an easy route to downtown Columbia, about 9 miles away. Interstate 20 is also close by for commuters making their way around the metro area. Columbia's Comet bus has several stops in and around Seven Oaks, but most residents drive to get around. Seven Oaks is about 11 miles from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, and Lexington Medical Center's Irmo campus is about 3 miles away.
Shops along St. Andrews Road and Columbiana Centre mall
Many of the area restaurants and shopping centers are along St. Andrews and Bush River roads. There are plenty of fast-food options as well as sit-down spots like Wings & Ale, which often has live music. KJ's Market is also close by for groceries. Retail options are abundant, whether it's Hamrick's along Bush River Road or the Dutch Square shopping center, which is about 5 miles away. Seven Oaks is also about 3 miles from the Columbiana Centre, which has over 100 stores.
