Ranches and new traditional homes on two acres
Spacious homes surrounded by peaceful woods and tranquil lakes are the primary offerings here in Cataula. "When buyers are thinking about moving to Harris County, they're seeking privacy and lots of space," says Cox. "Houses here have to be on a minimum of one to two acres because of septic systems. There may be one or two subdivisions on sewer in north Harris County, but even those have plenty of room." There is a mix of late 20th-century bungalows and ranch-style homes costing between $200,000 and $300,000 and recently built new traditional homes costing between $300,000 and $500,000. Some new traditional homes are in laidback subdivisions like the Maple Creek community, which still provide at least an acre of land.Horse riding, little league games and boating minutes from Cataula

The community is about 10 miles from Maple Ridge Golf Club in Columbus. During the warmer months, residents may enjoy fishing, jet skiing or boating at Lake Harding, located 18 miles away. There are public boat ramps at Blanton Creek Park, Idle Hour Park and Goat Rock Marina.Harris County School District serves Cataula families
Students may attend Harris County School District, including Mulberry Creek Elementary, which earned an overall B-plus on Niche. "As a whole, the district is desirable," says Cox. "Some buyers move to this area with the schools in mind because they are so well-rated and offer so many different educational opportunities." Students may then attend Harris County Carver Middle School, which earned an A-minus, and Harris County High School, which earned a B-plus. High schoolers can personalize their curriculum with education pathways such as graphic design, agriculture and health science.Commuting from Cataula
