Brookside Woods houses sell for between $225,000 and $750,000. Homebuyers purchase 1950s ranch-style houses for as low as $330,000 and New Traditional-style houses for as high as $550,000. Tudor Revival and Colonial Revival-style houses from the 1980s sell for between $450,000 and $600,000. Many of the homes were built around Brookside Golf & Country Club. About 46% of the real estate is made up of apartments, and about 35% of residents own their houses. "My father was a custom home builder who built the homes in Brookside Estates in the 1960s," he says. "The quality of the homes is excellent, even though they are close to 60 years old."A country club and two parks
Houses surround Brookside Golf & Country Club, which has 18 holes and was founded in 1927. The member-owned club sits on 260 acres and includes a fitness center, five clay tennis courts, two hard courts, pickleball courts and a Z-shaped Olympic pool. "Only a small percentage of members live in Brookside Woods and Brookside Estates," says Laurie Steller, director of membership and marketing at the country club. The club has multiple dining options. "People grab sandwiches to-go at this place called the Treehouse, which is on the golf course," Steller says. "The Pub restaurant in the clubhouses serves steaks, pasta, wraps and burgers." The club is also a popular social venue. "Every month, there are multiple events," Steller says. "There are pool parties, wine dinners, father-daughter dances, mother-son dances and ladies' tea parties." There are two public greenspaces within the community that residents can walk to. Brookside Woods Park has a playground, a picnic shelter, a basketball court and swing sets. The 17-acre Sawmill Wetlands Education Area has walking trails and bridges over vernal pools. Phoenix Middle School borders Perry Park, a 22-acre greenspace with a soccer field, a baseball diamond, a playground and a tot lot.Highly rated public schools
Some children can walk to Brookside Elementary, which has a 14-to-1 student-teacher ratio and a B-plus Niche rating. Phoenix Middle School students are 92% proficient in math and 82% in reading. The school has an A Niche rating. Worthington Kilbourne High School has an A-minus Niche rating and a 90% graduation rate. Ohio Stadium is 9-½ miles southeast of Brookside Woods. The Ohio State Buckeyes football team faces off against other Big Ten rivals at the stadium, which holds over 100,000 fans. Five miles northeast of Brookside, Marcus Cinema shows new film releases. Vertical Adventures, an indoor rock climbing facility, is 6 miles to the neighborhood's east. The downtown is home to Nationwide Arena, which hosts acts like Jelly Roll and Justin Timberlake.Getting around Columbus
Residents take Ohio State Route 315 about 13 miles south to Downtown Columbus. There are public bus stops along Sawmill Road on the neighborhood's western border. Residents drive 1-½ miles northwest to get on Interstate 270, which is known as Columbus' outer belt. Brookside Woods' streets are lined with sidewalks. John Glenn International Airport is 16-½ miles southeast of Olentangy Highlands. Ohio State University Airport is directly south of Brookside Woods. The airport produces very little noise. West Granville Road and Sawmill Road produce some noise.Chain restaurants and big-box retail
The Sun Center, north of West Granville Road, has a Krispy Kreme, a Dave's Hot Chicken and a Vietnamese restaurant called Pho Chef. There are big-box retailers like Whole Foods, Nordstrom, Bath & Body Works, Michaels and a PGA TOUR Superstore. South of the highway, the Festival Centre has retailers like PetSmart, Target and Burlington.
