Dexter Falls
Hilliard School District is comparable to Worthington
Oates lives in Dexter Falls and credits moving there to the school system’s reputation. “We were in the Worthington School District and wanted to be in a similar quality place,” Oates says. Students are zoned for the Britton-Norwich Learning Campus, which earns A-minus and B scores from Niche for its lower and upper campuses. Students in kindergarten through grade two learn in the Britton building, while grades three through five have classes in the Norwich building next door. Learners then move on to Hilliard Weaver Middle School, which has a B-plus rating and scores well above the state average on Algebra I and Geometry testing. Hilliard Davidson High School has an A-minus score and is No. 13 on Niche’s list of best public high schools in Franklin County.Burgers sourced from local Buckeye state farms
Dexter Falls is strictly a residential area, with no retail or restaurants within the neighborhood’s boundaries. However, plenty of options are just around the corner. “Some people like this small family-owned place right around the corner called Enrico’s that serves pizza and Italian food, and people really like The Rail a lot,” Oates shares. “They’re less than a mile from here, and they’re busy all the time.” The beef, poultry and dairy they use are sourced from local farms, and the spirits they serve originate in the Buckeye state. Chorpian Argentine Grill is popular for its 100% gluten-free and celiac-safe menu. The eatery specializes in Argentine comfort food that caters to a variety of food allergies without losing its rich flavor. Most locals get their shopping done at The Mall At Tuttle Crossing, which features many department stores and an amusement center. Shoppers can head 2 miles north or south to grab groceries from Walmart or Target. Oates shares that Bridge Park Avenue, 3-1/2 miles north, is another go-to for dining and that another large retail plot is being developed about 2 miles south of Dexter Falls. “They’re already building and moving dirt for that big project, so once it’s done, that’ll be a big draw,” Oates says.Discovering waterfalls at Griggs Nature Preserve
Dexter Falls Park is a 10-acre space where neighborhood soccer games are a common sight. There’s also a paved walking trail, a sheltered picnic area and a playground with two sets of swings. Oates says, “Sometimes we’ll run into my daughter’s classmates over there. Definitely a nice place to go.” One of the area’s more unique tourist attractions is also close by. The Griggs Nature Preserve, which includes the two-acre Hayden Falls Park, is just off Hayden Run Road. Its main attraction is down about 50 steps and at the end of a meandering boardwalk. On this path, adventurers are transported from the suburbs to the peacefulness and mist of a 35-foot waterfall. On the way to the falls, one of Ohio’s rarest plants — the spreading rock cress — can be seen growing beside the boardwalk area.Diverse homes with well-kept lawns in Dexter Falls
A mix of ranch-style, New Traditional and Colonial-inspired homes is prominent in Dexter Falls. “Generally, the homes are four-bed, two-and-a-half baths with 2,000 square feet. You could find anything from a starter home to something bigger when your needs change,” Oates says. Homes feature sprawling grass lawns accented with towering shade trees, two-car garages and wide, inviting driveways that lead to sidewalk-lined roads. Prices start at around $280,000 and reach up to $480,000, but some listings built within the past decade go for as much as $725,000. A few condos show face in the neighborhood’s southeastern portion, and those homes usually sell between $160,000 and $350,000.From Dexter Falls to downtown
I-270 runs along the neighborhood’s western border and connects locals to Downtown Columbus in 15 miles. Central Ohio Transit Authority buses are not readily available in the neighborhood. Frequent flyers are under 20 miles from John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
