Galloway is a growing section of Columbus
Galloway is still getting its start. On the outskirts of Columbus, much of Galloway is still open, undeveloped space. Plenty of open fields line developments and properties, making the space attractive to developers bringing in more planned subdivisions and homebuyers seeking lower home prices than other western Columbus communities. Like housing, commercial and retail spaces have yet to set up in Galloway, but you are close to Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, a major Columbus green space.

Housing options here include a collection of midcentury split levels and ranch-style homes on half an acre and New Traditionals and Craftsman homes built as recently as 2025. Older properties typically sit off highways and major roads, bordering fields and empty space. Developers are slowly buying up these open spaces, turning them into new subdivisions like The Villages at Galloway and Chase Landing.

Galloway home prices are less than nearby communities
Homes typically range from the mid $200,000s to the mid $400,000s, with the median price falling around $330,000. While this is higher than Columbus’s city median housing price of about $270,000, Galloway is considered more affordable than other west Columbus communities. “You get a little more for your money,” says Realtor Regan Lowe with the Brokerage House, about property sizes in Galloway. The community’s median is also lower than those for neighboring Grove City and Hilliard. “You’re not paying Hilliard taxes, but you’re close to the Hilliard amenities,” Lowe says.

Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is a major green space, spanning over 7,300 acres. Activities include:
Trails through the prairies and woods
Two enclosures with bison herds
Fishing and kayaking on the Little Darby and Big Darby creeks

Prairie Township Community Center’s fields host games for local baseball and soccer leagues. There’s also a playground and walking path. Camp Chase Bike Trail is a paved bike trail that goes through Galloway and into Columbus.

Galloway is car dependent, but amenities are close
This is a more car-dependent community, not served by Columbus’s public transit system. You can take U.S. Route 40 into Columbus city limits. Major highways like Interstates 270 and 70 are a few minutes away. Downtown is about 11 miles, or 20 minutes, away. Because Galloway is more residential, you’ll also have to travel a bit to things like shopping and dining. Hilliard Green is about 15 minutes away and includes major shopping centers like Market at Hilliard. Georgeville Square is a bit closer, less than 10 minutes away, and has big-box stores and chain restaurants.
Average public school ratings and nearby residency programs
Galloway is zoned for the South Western City School District, which offers average-rated schools. The district includes the South Western Career Academy, where juniors and seniors can enroll in career and technical courses and programs.
Galloway also supports Columbus’s medical students. “It’s a lot of doctor resident families who want to be close to the hospital,” Lowe says. OhioHealth Doctors Hospital is less than 10 minutes away from Galloway, hosting many medical professionals working on their residencies.
Alton Hall Elementary School has a beautiful newer building nearby.
Pleasant Valley Middle School is another school located in Galloway's district.
