Holt-Alkire puts parks, shopping and dining close by

You'll find Holt-Alkire on the southwest side of Columbus, minutes off Interstate 270, locally known as the Outerbelt for its circular route around the metro. It's a sweet spot for commuters, with downtown, the suburbs and the airport all within an easy drive. Traditional suburban houses sit on tidy, tree-dotted lots, so close to Grove City that many residents share its address while still living within Columbus. Schools and local parks are close by, while Holt Road leads to shopping and a range of dining options near home.

Why most buyers get Grove City access while paying Columbus taxes

New Traditional homes from the 1990s, early 2000s and 2010s make up most of the homes here. Two-story layouts are typical, but single-story options are also in the neighborhood. Common features include paved driveways, attached two-car garages and full basements.

The median price here is in the low $300,000s, with recent sales ranging from the high $200,000s to the high $400,000s. Compared to Grove City, with a median in the high $300,000s, and Columbus, with a median in the high $200,000s, this neighborhood sits between the two markets.

That in-between position comes with a perk, according to Melissa Overla, who lives here and works as a real estate agent with Keller Williams Consultants Realty. "The biggest thing is living near Grove City while still paying Columbus taxes," she says. "Even though most people have Grove City addresses, they're still technically in Columbus."

Residents here tend to be part of homeowners associations, with dues supporting amenities and services that vary by subdivision.

What to know about zoning and school choice in Holt-Alkire

Depending on the address, homes in Holt-Alkire are zoned for the South-Western City School District or Columbus City Schools. The two districts handle school assignments a little differently, which is worth knowing for families.

In South-Western, students are generally assigned to schools based on their home address, with Central Crossing High School sitting right in the neighborhood. Columbus schools work similarly but add a well-known lottery system, letting families apply to specialized and alternative programs for a chance at a seat outside their zoned Briggs High School.
