Mill Run
Shopping, brunching and trampoline jumping
Most of Mill Run is commercial, so there are plenty of shops and restaurants at residents' fingertips. First Watch is open for breakfast and brunch and often has long weekend wait times. The eatery is popular for its made-from-scratch French toast and health-conscious options, like avocado toast and fresh fruit. Louie's Grill Fusion is a favorite of Marquardt's. It's just across I-270 on Cemetery Road, and their steak burritos and chili relleno get rave reviews. For groceries, CAM International Market sells traditional Asian ingredients, while Target Grocery is just north of the neighborhood. When kiddos need to release their energy, Momi Land Hilliard and Get Air Columbus let little ones run free. Hours of fun can be had in these entertainment centers' ball pits, play areas, trampoline parks and arcades. Dave & Buster's Hilliard is also in the area for adults wanting to join the fun. If locals want to play something more physical, they can join a league or learn to play tennis at The Players Club on Mill Meadow Drive. Tennis pros are on hand to ensure every game is on point.Students attend highly rated Hilliard School District
Students in Mill Run attend classes at the highly rated Hilliard School District, which Marquardt shares is where both of her children attended school. Learners begin their education at Ridgewood Elementary School, which has a B-plus Niche score. Hilliard Weaver Middle School also has a B-plus and conducts a yearly three-day trip to Washington, D.C. that allows students to visit major memorials and more. Hilliard Davidson High School is the top-ranked school in the district, with high marks in college readiness and an A-minus Niche score. Students in the school’s art program are encouraged to enter regional and state competitions, and recently, several students were showcased in the 2024 Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition.Less square footage but more tax breaks
When it comes to architectural styles in Mill Run, two stand out. Marquardt shares, “I live in a ranch-style home, but there are also split levels; some people call them raised ranch. Most of them were built in the mid-1980s, and they’re being flipped now. I bought mine, completely gutted it and redid it.” Homes can cost anywhere from $360,000 to $700,000 for 1,500 to 3,500 square feet. Mill Run also has its fair share of condos, which cost between $160,000 and $400,000. According to Marquardt, the fact that Mill Run is zoned for Hilliard schools but subject to Columbus taxes is a major draw to homebuyers. Many buyers happily swap the larger square footage of surrounding neighborhoods for property tax breaks.Strolling the neighborhood’s lakes
While shopping or just out for a stroll, locals take advantage of paved walking paths that make their way around the neighborhood’s eight ponds. The paths were built to integrate the beauty and relaxation of nature with the daily needs of business and retail. The nearby Scioto Run Nature Trail has wooded walking paths, a picnic area and benches for those who want a more intimate connection with nature. While no parks are inside Mill Run's boundaries, Marquardt has a few nearby suggestions: “There’s Griggs Reservoir, which has tons of bike paths. There’s all the Hilliard Metro Parks, which connect to each other through the Rails to Trails. And there’s Quarry Trails Metro Park, which is probably the park I go to most. It’s got a great dog park in there and mountain bike paths.”Interstate 270 leads to downtown
Interstate 270 runs along the neighborhood’s western border and connects locals to Downtown Columbus in about 13 miles. Central Ohio Transit Authority buses run through Fishinger Boulevard, and frequent flyers are only 18 miles from John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
