While large yards provide some space for outdoor activities, Olde Sawmill Park — situated next to the elementary school — is a nearly 9-acre space with a wide-open field for kids to run, a playground and picnic tables. The Northwest Library, also within the community, has a children’s area filled with sculptures and paintings of beloved storybook characters. The library stays open until 9 p.m., and locals can come by to study, take language programs or get computer help. There are pickleball courts and a cricket pitch at Emerald Fields park, just across Sawmill Road. World-class golfers come to the Muirfield Village Golf Club, about 6 miles from Olde Sawmill. Olde Sawmill Civic Organization events
Members of the Olde Sawmill Community Organization work to organize several events during the year. There are 5K runs on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, and runners bring canned goods to help stock the shelves of the Smokey Road Food Pantry. In December, Santa pays a visit to the neighborhood, and there’s a pre-Father’s Day community-wide garage sale each year as well. Each June, the Dublin area sees an influx of visitors during the annual Memorial Tournament at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. Past winners of this invitational tournament include Tiger Woods and Greg Norman.
Large single-family homes from the late 1900s
Throughout Olde Sawmill, wide streets and sidewalks pave the way. The majority of homes were constructed between 1960 and 1990. Most have private driveways, and some come with two-car garages. Architectural styles vary, but many houses have Tudor-inspired half timbering or Colonial Revival-style details. There are also a few 1980s contemporary-style residences with a mix of brick and vinyl siding. Houses average around 2000 square feet, and they're settled on lots about a quarter acre in size. Prices for single-family homes generally fall between $350,000 and $500,000. There are also some condos in the western part of the community, which buyers may find in the $225,000 to $240,000 range.

Most of the retail is also focused on the western side of Olde Sawmill. The shopping plaza along Sawmill Road not only has a Walmart Supercenter but also a Thai restaurant and a sandwich shop. Kroger and 101 Beer Kitchen are just across the street. Along the southern edge of the community are Bawarchi Indian Cuisine and Los Guachos Taqueria, which serves fresh-sliced tacos al pastor and watermelon margaritas. In Dublin, about 3 miles away, there are pubs, restaurants and even an arcade bar.

Top rated Dublin City Schools
The neighborhood falls within the Dublin City Schools, a district that rates an A-plus on Niche. At the center of the community is Olde Sawmill Elementary, which earns an overall A, and Davis Middle School, which scores an A-minus. Both schools receive A-plus ratings for their teachers. Scioto High School earns an A-minus on Niche. There are private options within a 15-mile drive as well, such as St. Brigid of Kildare School, a coed kindergarten through eighth-grade Catholic school which is not yet ranked by Niche.

Bus and car travel from Olde Sawmill
While most daily essentials can be found along Olde Sawmill Road, Interstate 270 provides easy access to Columbus within 17 miles, and Dublin is only 5 miles away. Many residents travel by car, but there are also Central Ohio Transit Authority bus stops along Sawmill Road and Hard Road, as well as some bike lanes and walking trails. “You can get to the Old Dublin or Old Worthington area and don’t have to go on a busy street,” Whiteman says. The nearest airport is the Ohio State University Airport, 5 miles south, which offers flight lessons to college students and a runway for private planes. For commercial flights, residents can find the John Glenn Columbus International Airport less than 20 miles south. The closest emergency center is around 5 miles west, in the OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital.
