Single-family homes and townhouses from the 1950s through '80s
Pine Hills' homes reflect the era when the highways were constructed. "Most of the homes there were built in the 1950s and '60s," Pearson says. The architectural styles are typical of the time, including ranch-style homes, some with full basements, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and over 1,000 square feet of space. Bi-levels from the early 1960s have two-and-a-half-car detached garages, finished basements, balconies and patios. Prices for single-family homes range from $200,000 to $300,000. Brick townhouses on the neighborhood's north end are priced from $130,000 to $170,000. Single-story, multi-family homes on the neighborhood's south end range from $200,000 to $240,000. Several apartment complexes are located along the neighborhood's north and south ends.
Green space at Kraner Park and Big Walnut Park
Kraner Park is located on the neighborhood's west end, within walking distance of most residents. The roughly 8-acre green space runs along Big Walnut Creek, where some residents fish for bass. Children play flag football and soccer in its open field. The rest of the park is a wooded conservation area along the creek. Big Walnut Park is about a mile drive northwest. The 136-acre green space has basketball courts, baseball diamonds, pickleball overlays and tennis courts. The Greenway Trail runs along the creek and facilitates access to a 230-mile paved trail network that sprawls across the city. The park's lake is stocked with fish.Multiple public schools within 2 miles
Woodcrest Elementary School is on Livingston Avenue, within walking distance from the northern edge of Pine Hills. Niche says that the school has a lower-than-average, 16-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio. The school participates in the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, which emphasizes reading instruction and intervention in early grades. About 2 miles northwest of Pine Hills, Sherwood Middle School has a 15-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio. Around 2 miles northwest of the neighborhood, Walnut Ridge High School has accreditation from the North Central Association of Secondary Schools. All three schools have C-minus Niche ratings.
Magic Mountain Fun Center and Ohio State football games
Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park is less than 2 miles east of the neighborhood and hosts children's birthday parties. Less than 3 miles to the neighborhood's southeast, the Magic Mountain Fun Center has batting cages, a go-kart track, a mini golf course and an arcade. Fans of Ohio State football travel less than 15 miles to root for the NCAA Division I Championship-winning team at Ohio Stadium.Getting around Columbus
"Proximity to everything makes Pine Hills great," Pearson says. "Even the traffic noise from the nearby interstates is not a big deal for people who live there." The Central Ohio Transit Authority operates bus stops along East Livingston Avenue on the neighborhood's north end. Downtown Columbus is 10 miles west via Interstate 70. John Glenn Columbus International Airport is about 10 miles northwest of Pine Hills via Interstate 270.Angelina's Villa and Poblano's Mexican Restaurant & Bar
