Just off Sawmill Road, north of the interchange with Interstate 270, Sawmill Forest offers suburban living with easy access to parks, big-box retail, local dining and commuter options. Niche ranks the Dublin City School District, where Sawmill Forest residents send their kids, as the best school district in the Columbus area. “There is definitely room here for family growth,” says Realtor Brad Marquis, who sells homes in the neighborhood with Keller Williams Capital Partners.
A-rated public schools
Olde Sawmill Elementary School is about a quarter mile southeast of Sawmill Forest. The school has an A Niche rating. Next door, Ann Simpson Davis Middle School has an A-minus rating. Children can walk to both schools. After school, kids can walk less than half a mile to Northwest Library to do their homework. Dublin Scioto High School is about a mile west of Sawmill Forest and has an A rating. High school students have the opportunity to earn International Baccalaureate degrees, which colleges across the globe recognize. Dublin Scioto High’s Irish Marching Band regularly performs at Walt Disney World.

Bi-level homes and Tudor Revivals
Most of the neighborhood’s homes were built in the 1970s and 80s. Old-growth trees shade most lawns, and sidewalks line the suburban streets. The backyards, often fenced in, have enough space for patios and grills. Bi-level and split-level homes are valued from $300,000 to $460,000, and Tudor Revival-style houses are valued from $415,000 to $530,000. Contemporary-style houses with vinyl exteriors are valued from $370,000 to $530,000. “Many of the homes have been updated and are gorgeous, and some have potential for building equity with renovations,” Marquis says. Vinyl-exterior condos and townhouses on the neighborhood’s south end are valued between $170,000 and $250,000. “The townhouses and condos are all rentals,” Marquis says.

Olde Sawmill Park and Emerald Fields
Residents have walkable access to green spaces designed for athletics. Olde Sawmill Park is next to the elementary school. It has a picnic shelter, a basketball court and two playgrounds. The park’s open field is good for frisbee and soccer games. “The park is ideal for organized sports or if you’re just taking the kids to throw a baseball,” says Realtor Andy Whiteman, who sells homes in the neighborhood with RE/MAX Achievers. Emerald Fields is about a quarter mile west of the neighborhood. The park has baseball diamonds, cricket fields and a playground.

Ohio State football and the Dublin Irish Festival
Sawmill Forest residents have access to year-round events. Ohio Stadium is 11 miles south of Sawmill Forest. Ohio State’s football team faces off against other Big Ten Conference teams in front of over 100,000 fans at the stadium. Every August, Dublin Village hosts the annual Dublin Irish Festival about 7 miles west of Sawmill Forest. The three-day event draws thousands of visitors with music from the old country, strongman competitions and whisky tastings. An AMC theater is 2 miles south of Sawmill Forest.
Direct access to Interstate 270
A paved biking and walking path runs along Sawmill Road and connects green spaces like Emerald Fields, Camden Lakes Park and Thaddeus Kosciuszko Park with the high school and the shopping center directly southeast of the neighborhood. Commuters appreciate that Downtown Columbus is less than 16 miles southeast of Sawmill Forest via Ohio State Route 315. Interstate 270, known as Columbus’ outerbelt, is 2 miles south of Sawmill Forest. John Glenn Columbus International Airport is about 20 miles southeast of the neighborhood via Interstate 270. The Central Ohio Transit Authority operates bus stops on the neighborhood’s northwest corner along Sawmill Road.
