Reunion
Suburban Neighborhood in Commerce City, Colorado
Adams County 80022
Subdivisions of single-family homes
Many of Reunion’s neighborhoods were constructed in the early 2000s and 2010s by Shea Homes and have their own homeowners associations. Curving residential streets are wide, with sidewalks separated by grassy strips and lined with younger trees. Traditional multi-story homes with Craftsman-inspired features are popular, with multiple front gables, pointed roofs and brightly colored exteriors. These properties span 2,000 to 4,000 square feet and cost $500,000 to $725,000. Expansive estate-like properties surrounding the Buffalo Run Golf Course also feature Craftsman influences, get up to 6,000 square feet and are priced between $800,000 and $1.4 million.Oakwood Homes took over as the master developer in 2017 and has continued new construction of modern houses. These homes go for $325,000 to $550,000. Additionally, multi-family housing options are in the neighborhood as contemporary townhouses and condominiums. These properties span 1,000 to 1,500 square feet and cost $375,000 to $450,000.
Open spaces and neighborhood parks
The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge spans 15,000 acres with over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails along grasslands, wetlands and woodlands, all with various species of wildlife. There’s also an 11-mile Wildlife Driving Tour through the landscape with a podcast that teaches visitors about the native bison, prairie dogs and deer populations. In addition to the refuge, Reunion is dotted with green spaces. The area’s namesake park has a playground, an outdoor pool and a recreation center. Paved walking paths loop around three lakes and a large grassy field that’s used for movie nights and live performances in the warmer months. Reunion Coffee House is in eastern Reunion Park, serving beverages and treats. “Everybody seems to go there and hang out,” Panariello says. “It has a wraparound porch and it’s right on one of the lakes, so you can sit out and watch people walk by or ride their bikes.” The northern area of the neighborhood includes the Buffalo Run Golf Course, a public, 18-hole club.

Reunion may be split into multiple subdivisions, but the community at large comes together for various events throughout the year. In addition to holiday get-togethers like the Fourth of July fireworks display and Easter egg hunt, the neighborhood has an extended list of summer activities. Reunion Park hosts movie nights, and the Reunion Recreation Center hosts food trucks every Tuesday evening. There’s also the 88 Drive In Theatre, about 7 miles away, which is Denver’s last remaining original drive-in that shows a wide selection of family friendly films.Traveling in and around Reunion
With the area’s sprawling landscape and winding streets, driving a vehicle is needed to get around. Expressway 470 travels north to south, along Reunion’s east side, to Denver International Airport for commercial flights, about 3 miles away. Despite the airport’s proximity, the neighborhood does not experience noise from the air traffic. “We have a lot of pilots that live there; pilots and flight attendants like to live out there so they can get to the airport really quick,” Panariello says. Access to Interstate 76, known as the Heartland Expressway, and Colorado State Highway 2 can be found less than a mile west of the neighborhood. Regional Transportation District (RTD) buses have stops along 104th Avenue and 120th Avenue.Commercial areas with shops and restaurants
Since most of the neighborhood’s streets are residential, opportunities for shopping and dining are found in strip malls and commercial intersections. The Reunion Marketplace Center at the intersection of Chambers Road and East 104th Avenue has well-known retailers such as Walgreens, Ace Hardware and King Soopers. Fast food options in the area include Jersey Mike’s, Panda Express and Popeye’s. Across the street, State House is a sports bar with an industrial theme that serves classic bar food and beverages. There’s an outdoor patio with a fire pit where patrons can listen to live music on the weekends.Reunion Village is a shopping center farther east along 104th Avenue and Tower Road. Yum Asian Fusion Cuisine and Sushi has a variety of international dishes. There are also fast-food options such as Subway and Del Taco.
