Islandis
Neighborhood in Concord, California
Contra Costa County 94520
Multi-family residences and a pocket of ranch-style homes
The neighborhood’s streetscapes feature clusters of mature native trees, giving the area a quieter residential feel for being right next to bustling commercial corridors. While apartment buildings primarily line the streets, sprinkles of contemporary condo buildings and townhouses are woven within these, particularly within the Taxco condo community and the Laguna Townhome development. Condo prices typically range from $275,000 to $350,000, while townhouses range from $400,000 to $450,000. Detached single-family homes are in the neighborhood’s southern corridor. These display traditional and contemporary ranch-style architecture and often feature covered carports and decorative front lawns. With longstanding residents, these homes are not often on the market, but when they are, home price values range from $600,000 to $800,000.Nearby community parks and next downtown’s central green plaza
Ellis Lake Park borders the neighborhood to the west on Ellis Street. This 10-acre public recreational site features a large man-made lake surrounded by a paved walking and running path, plus play areas. The park also includes the historic Keller House, whose previous occupants were integral to the city's development during the 20th century. Meadow Homes Park is a mile south, with vast open green spaces, athletic fields, and playscapes. Its small spray water park section is a popular feature during the warmer months. Downtown’s Todo Santos Plaza is just north of Islandis, a prominent city-style central green space surrounded by shops and restaurants. It features a playground and resting areas and is where many city events occur. Lime Ridge Open Space is about four miles south for more extensive outdoor recreation. It provides numerous hiking and biking trails along its vast, hilly open valleys where native wildlife sightings are common.Public schools with digital innovation programs
Students may attend Meadow Homes Elementary School, which gets a C rating from Niche, followed by the B-plus-rated Valley View Middle School. The B-minus-rated Mt. Diablo High School offers numerous Career Technology (CIT) programs in emergency medicine, culinary arts, advanced woodworking and digital innovations.Next to Highway 680 and the Concord BART Station
The Monument Community Shuttle helps locals get around the corridor. Multiple public bus stations are nearby, and the Concord BART Station is about a half-mile east for a light rail travel option. Highway 680 is just west of the neighborhood, and the Buchanan Field Airport is two miles north for domestic flights.Concerts in the park and annual downtown festivals
Many community events take place at the nearby Todos Santos Plaza in downtown Concord. "The plaza is the central area of downtown, and there is just a ton of things that go on here,” says Brian Burnett, a Concord resident and property manager for the Grant, a nearby apartment complex. This venue offers a weekly summer concert series with free live performances from local bands and musicians and other popular gatherings, like the city’s annual holiday tree lighting ceremony. The Spring Brews Festival takes place in March and brings in over 60 world-class craft breweries for beer tastings, live music and local food.Walking distance from local shops and trendy dining
Although Islandis is primarily residential, there are shopping and dining options just outside of the neighborhood. On Willow Pass Road, there are diverse food markets, including Las Montañas Supermarket, Punjabi Bazaar and 99 Ranch Market. Dining options here include Spicy Joi Restaurant, serving Laotian-inspired cuisine inside a brightly decorated interior. Downtown is less than a mile away, with tons of dining, boutiques and cafes. Luna Restaurant is one of the most popular downtown eateries, serving Italian-style dishes. Next door, the highly rated Lima bistro is known for its Californian-Peruvian food with ample indoor and outdoor seating. There’s a Safeway for grocery essentials one mile east, or the weekly Concord Farmers Market at nearby Todos Santos Plaza offers fresh local produce and artisan goods. The Willows Shopping Center is less than two miles west for big box stores and retail chains like Old Navy and REI.
