Northeast Multnomah County Community Association of Corbett
The Northeast Multnomah County Community Association (NEMCCA) connects residents of Corbett, an expansive, rural area marked by breathtaking views along the Columbia River Gorge. Homeowners live on acres of rugged Oregon terrain, forming a tight-knit community that solves the challenges of rural living together. “Not only is there natural beauty, but it can feed your soul with the sense of strong community and people genuinely caring about you and looking out for you,” says Michelle Carter Smith, a broker with RE/MAX Equity Group who raised her two sons in Corbett for 21 years. “I’ve moved across the United States 17 times, and I’ve never seen anything like Corbett.”

Multnomah Falls and Oregon’s Waterfall Alley
The eastern area of the NEMCCA includes eight cascades along the Historic Columbia River Highway, known throughout the state as “Waterfall Alley.” The cascades fall along the Columbia River Gorge, a National Forest Service land, as well as a National Scenic Area, meaning signs for newcomers and designated parking spaces along the highway make it easy to appreciate its natural beauty. Multnomah Falls is perhaps the crowning glory of the route, and one of the most visited sites in the state. At 627 feet high, water that slices through the misty, fern-covered side of a cliff creates the tallest waterfall in Oregon.
More active outdoor recreation can be found farther west at the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Site, close to where the Sandy River empties into the Columbia. The site is also near a popular swimming hole and Broughton’s Bluff, a prime rock-climbing spot that forms the boundary between the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range and the Willamette Valley. Canoers and kayakers can navigate the calmer waters of the Sandy River from the park’s boat launch.

Guaranteed enrollment for residents of Corbett School District
Children in the neighborhood may attend the Corbett School District, which earns an overall grade of B-plus from Niche. Though it’s a charter school system with open enrollment, attendance is guaranteed for those who live within the district boundaries. “It’s a very strong pull for families. Both of my boys went K-12 and it's a phenomenal school district.” Smith says. “Many of the families that come to me want me to find them a home in Corbett because they want their kids in the school district. Many of them drive back and forth from Gresham, and even Troutdale, and they say it’s not ideal. They want to be in the community.”
Corbett Grade School’s curriculum is designed around the scenic Columbia River Gorge, and Corbett High School offers the most extensive Advanced Placement program in the state. In fact, Niche considers it the second-best charter high school in the Portland area.

Customers can pick up beef brisket or pulled pork sandwiches, as well as sides like mac and cheese or scalloped potatoes, to take on a road trip through Waterfall Alley. Sugarpine Drive-In is another popular stop along the Historic Columbia River Highway, featured in multiple regional and national publications. Popular orders include soups, salads, health bowls and the drive-in’s unique waffle grilled cheese sandwich, while soft serve ice cream piled with crunchy toppings is on the menu for dessert.
