Dalton Gardens is a semirural community just north of Coeur d’Alene. With a population of around 2,400, it offers plenty of open space, natural beauty and nearby outdoor recreation. It sits just west of Lake Hayden, at the foot of the Bitterroot Mountains and its many national parks. It’s just a few minutes to Hayden Lake and very close to hiking at Canfield Mountain,” Corcoran-Hall says. The Canfield Mountain Natural Area, directly adjacent to Dalton Gardens, offers miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Trails wind through pine forests, over rocky ridges and up to viewpoints with sweeping views of Coeur d’Alene Lake. Just a short drive away, Coeur d’Alene Lake and Lake Hayden offer plenty of opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing and swimming. The scenic Centennial Trail, which stretches for 23 miles from the Idaho-Washington border all the way to the east side of Coeur d’Alene Lake, is perfect for cyclists, runners, and walkers seeking beautiful lake and river views.
