Dana Hills is a residential neighborhood close to the ocean

On the north side of Dana Point, Dana Hills provides a suburban lifestyle with highly rated schools and single-family homes in winding subdivisions. It has a wide array of architectural options, from midcentury houses to contemporary homes in luxurious gated communities. “It has a family-oriented, active lifestyle and great local parks,” says Realtor Liana Norman, who works with Coldwell Banker Realty and has over 35 years of experience in the region. The area’s peek-a-boo views and panoramic overlooks of the water promise endless days at nearby beaches, some of the most well-regarded in SoCal for their coves and dramatic waves.

Sea Canyon Park, Dana Hills Tennis Center and beach proximity

Sea Canyon Park, located on the west end of Dana Hills, is the community’s most popular recreation space. “It's a beautiful park. Lots of families hang out there,” Norman says. It offers a playground, a dog park and tree-lined walking paths, where birders can spot red-tailed hawks. There are also more playgrounds scattered throughout the neighborhood. On the north side of the community, Dana Hills Tennis Center offers tennis lessons, plus eight lighted courts with ocean views. One of the area’s best assets is its proximity to the Pacific Ocean — the neighborhood is just a couple of miles from Salt Creek Beach and Dana Strands Beach. Both beaches have striking views, soft sand and waves ideal for surfing.

Ranch-style homes, contemporary homes, condos and more in Dana Hills

Much of Dana Hills is composed of winding, residential roads and cul-de-sacs, and houses might have attached garages and neat yards. Many homes on the northern end of the neighborhood were built in the 1960s and ‘70s and have midcentury ranch-style architecture. These often go for about $1.3 million to $2.3 million. Homes in this part of Dana Hills can sell quickly, thanks in part to the lack of HOAs. “The market moves faster in that area if priced right,” Norman says.

On the southern end, contemporary builds go for about $1.6 million to $2.6 million. There are some condos and townhouses on the south side as well, and these can sell from about $900,000 to $1.9 million. Some homes in this part of the neighborhood, including some of the condos and townhouses, are in gated HOA communities.
