Sidewalks link Lake Forest's homes to the championship golf course and other amenities
Alabama's largest neighborhood feels cozy. A paved trail runs through the wide, grassy median on Ridgewood Drive. Paths like this link Lake Forest's meandering streets and pine-shaded cul-de-sacs to an array of amenities spread across the roughly 3,000-home subdivision. There are three community pools, a disc golf course at Daphne Central Park, even a horse farm with stables and trails. At Lake Forest Golf Club, members can train with PGA professionals on a championship-level course and then grab a bite to eat at The 19th Hole Grill. But what drew developers here in 1971 was its location. Lake Forest is on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, tucked into the corner of Interstate 10 and U.S. Route 98. I-10 brings commuters to Mobile on the other side of the bay and east to Pensacola, while 98 runs along the Eastern Shore, through Fairhope and over to Foley. When commuters come home to this corner of Daphne, they find plenty of shops and restaurants, plus picturesque sunsets over Mobile Bay.
