Rapid growth in Davie
A few years ago, Davie was a small, unassuming town outside Fort Lauderdale; now, it houses the multimillion-dollar mansions of NBA players and names like Rick Ross. In 2020, developers began buying land and building two-to-three-million-dollar homes. "But that's not like a two-to-three-million-dollar home in Miami," says Jason Matouk, a local Realtor who runs a YouTube channel about South Florida real estate. "In Davie, that's like an 8,000-square-foot home." People move to Flamingo Paradise to easily access nearby cities like Fort Lauderdale and Miami while living in a neighborhood that balances privacy and a sense of community. It's about 33 miles to Miami and 15 to Fort Lauderdale and the beach, making it easy to access without paying for waterfront real estate. Historically, Flamingo Paradise has been a community of mainly manufactured homes, but its recent development has seen the addition of luxury properties, creating a wide range of housing options for buyers. "Everything in that area is going up in value because of how much traction it's getting," Matouk says.

Liberty Park, a small neighborhood park with a playground and picnic pavilion, is the only public green space in Flamingo Paradise. Still, the neighborhood is near other outdoor recreation options. Three miles west, on the edge of the Everglades, the nearly 700-acre Markham Park & Target Range has lakes for jet skiing, 11 miles of bike trails, a huge campground and one of the premier outdoor shooting ranges in South Florida. Nearby, residents enjoy access to the public Bonaventure Golf Club and semi-private Jacaranda Golf Club, and Dania Beach is only 15 miles east. Famous for its fishing, this public beach has a 900-foot-long pier with a sun shelter, fish-cleaning table and seafood restaurant on the beach.

Eclectic eateries and Florida's top shopping destination
For lunch in Flamingo Paradise, a local might swing by the lunch buffet at Palace Indian Cuisine or stop for Thai and Japanese fusion food at Cilantro Asian Bistro. For a sit-down dinner, they'll head to Embarcadero 41, a Peruvian restaurant with poke bowls and ceviche, or CJ Blacks Restaurant & Bar, an American restaurant with premium Angus beef, bourbon and beer. When picking up dinner, Los Paisanos Supermarket and Cafeteria's buffet has large portions of high-quality food at fair prices. Residents can also pick up groceries here or swing by Publix or Winn-Dixie nearby. Three miles north of the neighborhood, Sawgrass Mills is the area's premier shopping destination and one of the largest malls in the country. "That's the first place people go when they get to Davie, and they bring a suitcase," Matouk says. "It's full of outlets and designer stores."
