Davis Junction combines small-town charm with steady growth
When Davis Junction was founded in the 1870s by Jeremiah Davis, the village was a small railroad town of about 200 people. Now, with around 800 residents, it still maintains that small-town feel just south of the city of Rockford and continues to grow at a steady pace. “It has definitely grown in the last 10 years,” says local business owner Seth Hudson, who has lived in Davis Junction since 2011. “Developers continue to build about 50 homes a year. They also started an expansion project where we’ll be getting a mini strip mall soon.” The community is surrounded by farmland with a few subdivisions scattered around town, along with community parks and some local restaurants. “What I love most about the community is it’s away from everything,” Hudson says. “It’s just a very quiet and peaceful environment.” The village receives a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.
