History of speed set in a slow-moving town

Dawsonville may be known as the birthplace of stock car racing and home to NASCAR Champions Bill Elliott and his son Chase Elliott, but residents often seek the town out so that they can spend less time in their cars.

“People seem to move here to get out of the congestion of the surrounding areas,” says Anna Stradley, a Realtor with Landmark Realty Associates, Inc. and longtime resident of Dawsonville. “It offers a variety of different types of properties. You have lake access, mountain views and close to hiking trails, or you have communities close to GA-400, and they have amenities like pools and stuff like that. It is versatile in all areas.”
