Grand entrances to grand homes

The Oaks neighborhood in Delray Beach is an upscale community of three tony subdivisions, all of which welcome visitors to enter through grand entrances. The towering Mediterranean-style archway outside of the neighborhood’s namesake subdivision predicts grandeur with homes displaying the classic white and tan stucco and copper roofs. The drive into Boca Bridges is long and dramatic, beginning with a bridge lined with low, geometric white and gray walls and leading past pyramid-like fountains and stately palms on either side. And at Lotus, the first thing in view is a circular, ultra-modern fountain flanked on both sides by angular and equally modern stone waterfalls. Each has the security of private access gates one can expect from these luxury communities.

Three communities, distinct personalities

“The gated communities here are new and very popular with affluent families,” says Isaac Klein, a broker with Klein Morgan Realty LLC, who lived in The Oaks for four years in the 2010s. Homes in each subdivision vary by their architectural signatures. The Oaks, the namesake community, is the oldest, with homes built in the early 2000s. They primarily have the Mediterranean style with wide or looping driveways and multi-car garages. Lotus features primarily contemporary structures all built in 2018 or later, with large windows, flat roofs, and a mostly white and gray color palette, along with stone or wood accents. Boca Bridges is the stylistic medium, with Mediterranean and contemporary styles coexisting. “Buyers are attracted to the luxury of these communities,” says real estate agent Veronica Peters with Premier Estate Properties Inc. “They offer top-of-the-line amenities, including pools, tennis courts and on-site restaurants, and don’t require equity memberships, which can get very costly.” The smallest homes have three bedrooms and 2,600 square feet. Home prices range from $1.3 million-$5 million. HOA fees are about $500 monthly at Lotus and $1,000-$1,100 monthly at The Oaks and Boca Bridges.
