A thriving suburb southwest of Denver, Meadows is as tree-dotted as the name might suggest. As a result, Meadows benefits from its proximity to Denver and Aurora and is sandwiched between lively centers for retail and recreation.
The neighborhood offers a blend of housing options to choose from. Condos in this area sell for $300,000 to $400,000, while single-family homes sell for anywhere from $600,000 to $900,000. You’ll find traditional and split-level homes with scattered foliage and many attached garages, sometimes up to 3-car garages. There are common cul-de-sacs, and sidewalk space is widespread, extending down both sides of the streets. There is ample off-street parking in residential areas.
Meadows is served by Jefferson County School District, which comes highly rated in the state. Nearby, you’ll have your choice of Ute Meadows Elementary School, rated a B-plus on Niche, Deer Creek Middle School, rated an A-minus, and Chatfield Senior High School, rated an A-minus and featuring the Bagging And Giving Supplies club, or BAGS for short. BAGS Club members distribute care packages for people experiencing homelessness and can volunteer for local fundraisers and charities of their choice. An example of community development and service is another educational priority.
Chaucer Park is within walking distance wherever you are in the neighborhood and features benches and a playground for kids. Woodbourne Community Pool is also a splash to dive in during summer. Meadows Golf Club is a public 18-hole course in the Rocky Mountain foothills, and residents have been teeing up there since 1984. It’s right across South Simms Street, which borders the neighborhood’s north side. Amy Bassett, a 9-year real estate agent with Colorado Home Realty, mentions, “Meadows allows good access to the mountains for skiing or hiking. It’s got all the outdoor adventure you're looking for in Colorado.” Ski enthusiasts can take a day trip and drive 35 miles west to slide through the snow at Echo Mountain Ski Resort.
Less than a mile from home is Meadows Plaza, a shopping district featuring King Soopers for groceries, Walgreens, Flippin’ Furniture, and several other retail spots. They also have dining establishments like Tu Casa Mexican, known for their fresh salsa and breakfast burritos.
For transportation, Meadows has one RTD bus stop at Meadows Plaza on the 116X route that takes you to and from Denver Civic Center. Residents here can walk to get groceries and shop, but having a car to reach all amenities is recommended. Nearby Colorado state Highway 470 is less than a mile from the neighborhood’s western edge, allowing residents greater access to Denver and Aurora. As far as walkability, Bassett says, “Colorado’s good at having walking trails all over and areas for bikers. You always see babies in strollers and dog walkers on residential streets.” Numerous walking trails are available in neighboring Ken Caryl, Sanctuary Park and Christensen Meadows Park.
Meadows offers a close commute to the city and access to top-notch schools and nearby retail centers. Everyone finds what they appreciate under the mountains in Meadows.
